Names for female genitals..

.. I've been teaching sex ed to year 6 this week. We were talking about 'correct' scientific words for various body parts, and one girl suggested 'minge' for the vagina. After I'd stopped laughing, I started thinking about words that people use to describe different parts of female genitalia.

Suggestions in the staff room:

foofoo, or foof
minge
muff
my flower

And now on here tonight there are two others - hoohaa and tuppence.

What did you call your genitals when you were a child? What do you call them now? Do you have different words for different bits? What do you suggest your children call them?

I think I used fanny or "down there" when I was a kid, now it would be foo or vulva/vagina, depending on who I'm speaking to!

I've heard quim, I think it's quite an d word for it.

I was 19, he was 22. It wasn't in a sexy way, and degrading/dirty talk can sometimes be arousing.

We were talking as plainly as possible about my period. He used sluthole in the same way you or I would use penis when discussing a medical thing.

I queried him on it, and he genuinely didn't see why it was so awful. In fact, it was normal for him, as he'd grown up hearing his Dad refer to his mum -not her vagina, the actual woman- as a sluthole.

He was, and still is, a foul human. At 54, still sees women as a death sentence to be avoided. Is a lonely and very unhappy man, masquerading under the delusion that he is single by choice, and not his emotional stuntedness. 'Men are not naturally monogamous, can't cage this wild dog' bullshit.

Ewwww at sluthole! As a kid it was 'Mary' and now it's foo, vajayjay or fanjita - so many weird names for it!

I am so telling DH about 'sluthole'. Not so he can use it, but just... Wow.
