Pretty self explanatory really.
30 + 5 and i have been getting sharp shooting pains in my vagina and kinda up my bottom. It only
happens now and again. maybe once a day but it is very sore. Takes my breath away, sore.

What is it? Anyone know the cause?
Possibly just muscles etc preping for labour?

Hi hun

I'm 5 weeks pregnant - so not quite far along as you - but I too started having shooting pains yesterday down stairs. I think maybe it's just cause there's so much going on down there that your bound to get some random pains and like you said maybe it's perhaps muscles stretching...

Ooh, lightening pains! Yuck. They're awful and only get worse I'm afraid. No idea what they are but not looking forward to them this time. Sorry!

I have started getting something similar and my mw said it is the baby moving down. She said it can happen quite early and doesn't mean the baby is ready to come so not to worry

I'm 38 weeks and have been getting these for a while. Sometimes quite sharp pains very low down which make me wince. MW said all very normal and usually just baby moving down and your body preparing etc

GingerRodgers · 11/06/2014 19:59

Oh and dd was 8 days late so no indication they will come early Smile

Yep 37 + 3 now & noticed it a few weeks ago when a lightening bolt down there (only way I could think to describe it at the time) saw me doubled over wincing in the kitchen! Asked via my blog as don't remember it from last time & someone commented they are known as fanny forks! Funniest thing I'd heard in a while.

Good luck- I found last night that kneeling down on the floor with elbows on the sofa, bum tilted away, helped soften the blows a bit...

Haha Fanny Forks.
Thanks ladies. That puts my mind at ease.
I did consult my mum on it but she doesn't remember ever having experienced the pains herself.
I guess some people are just lucky like that Envy lol xx

I can ask my sister who only had my nephew 10 month ago about her pregnancy and I get a blank look lol I think a lot is quickly forgotten. I always get better responses off someone who is maybe 2-3 month ahead or currently pregnant

I definitely don't remember it from last time around but I had SPD then and was so miserable with that pain that anything else seemed like a walk in the park. It's worse when I stand or sit upright so just lay down or sit tilted to one side. It's just a bit of a shock when you get a really painful one!
