Hey guys

I missed the last round of baby events (aldi, tesco, asda....etc) and was wondering if anyone knows when the next ones are due to start.

Is there any pattern that they tend to follow?

My baby is due mid July but really need to get some key bits for it.

Thanks.x

There is an event at Babies R Us at the moment I think...

beanynamechange · 10/06/2014 09:08

10-30th June is Tesco.. If you sign up to the baby clubs then they send you a leaflet and email you :)

Hey guys

I can't seem to see any on the tesco site.

I am registered on their sites but wanted to see anyone had any guidance on future events. I just want to see if it's worth waiting before I buy the gadgets.

Need to buy a breast pump, thermometer, health kit, car seat, car seat..... Etc plus mattress. ... The list seems endless...lol

Aha yes! Probably!! Although keep an eye out on all the websites around that time.. They all normally sync up! (And Tesco/ asda/ sainsburys all have seperate 'baby' bits of their website, so worth looking that up!)

Baby events are a big con, most of the products can actually be found cheaper when they're not advertised. They also advertise all the "must haves" which you will almost never need.

On that note, what's a health kit?

The car seats they sell in these event are cheap crap and again you can get more for your money elsewhere. Check out Amazon and Precious little one for the things you mention PLO is great for mattresses and car seats particularly.

AuntieBrenda · 10/06/2014 22:34

My big topics to wait until tesco do double up for club card vouchers and buy a load of nappies etc. I had two
Trolleys worth of nappies, wipes, creams, cotton wool etc for pennies when I worked it out. My haul lasted me ages! I will be spin this agin now I'm due with dc2 Grin

I agree with not buying a cheap supermarket car seat. If money is tight look out for special offers on better seats. Save money for the car seat by not getting crap you don't need.

you don't need a health kit. A simple thermometer is very cheap in the supermarket. You cant use calpol at first anyway. Not sure what would be in health kit?

avoid spending lots on a breast pump while you are still pregnant. Look for a basic manual pump. If expressing works for you, upgrade to an electric later on.

aldi seem to have some baby stuff on offer at the moment. They had a microwave steriliser on offer the other day which might still be available

kiddicare usually have very reasonably priced cot and Moses mattresses and are also a good place to look for car seats, although i would avoid their own brand budget babyweavers models as they are not better than the supermarkets.

primprincess · 11/06/2014 09:19

Hey ladies, thanks for the tips. It seems supermarket baby events may not be the way to go after all Confused

The healthcare kit is buy Tommee tippee and it seems to have everything you need in it. I looked on hot deals and they have sold for as low as £4 during baby events. Amazon has it for £12, although they have sold it for lower as well, I'm assuming it's because they price matched with another retailer.

Breast pump, I'd rather get an electric one and save the money on the manual, I will have to express anyway As I have to go back to work after 3mths and my bf and sis both suggested getting it before hand as they considered it a must have and both got buggere d out when they didn't buy one before hand.

Regarding the car seat, I want the maxi cosi pebble which my friend picked up for £80 ish on amazon in December but now they are £110 so was hoping again they may get discounted around these events if they are included in them.

I am using my sisters old cot bed but Will check out precious little one for mattress though.

Do mothercare have discounts or sales? Again they had 20%off a month or so ago but I assumed like most other retailers they would come round again before baby so I won't have to store things for so long,

I just discovered Kiddicare shops/website. They sell branded items with money off (a bit like TK Maxx). E.g. Cosatto, Oyster, Graco, Fisher Price...

Will be visiting them rather than sale offers.

Does anyone know of permanent outlet stores for Mothercare and Mamas & Papas? Have heard they exist...but where? :)

Firstpregnancy2014 · 11/06/2014 09:57

There is a mamas and papas outlet at Cheshire oaks.. Not sure where you are in the country but they have always had quite a lot when I go
They're clothes and packs of sleep suits are normally about 60% off !
And then it's even better that you can walk into baby gap outlet !

squizita · 11/06/2014 10:26

Wow! It's not near where I live but I do visit F&F in Cheshire from time to time so will visit when I'm near.

SqutterNutBaush · 11/06/2014 12:20

Could you borrow a breastpump?

I could get loads with a manual and never got more than an ounce with an electric (I tried a few from basic right up to hospital grade) so worth borrowing or starting with the cheaper option if you can.

GingerRodgers · 11/06/2014 12:57

There's a list of mamas&papas outlets on the website.
Mothercare have an outlet store near sheffield. I'd assume there's a list on their website too.
