Any recommendations on where to get a maternity swimming costume from?

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations on where to get a decent maternity swimming costume from? I swim a lot, and my normal costumes are starting to get a tad snug now, so I started looking around at buying a new one to last the rest of pregnancy. I have a long upper body, so often struggle to find costumes long enough in the body so probably a tankini is a better idea I guess although I have never worn one before!

Anyone found any decent options? Thanks!

I bought a nice pink halter neck tankini from Blooming Marvellous at Mothercare in March. Now I'm 33 weeks it's a bit snug but tankini better than normal costume.

Have you checked out ASOS? They have a decent selection here. I bought their own brand swimsuit during my last pregnancy and really liked it (even if it is green and makes me look like a bloated frog).

From the selection I linked to, I love the stripy tankini/pants combo with yellow border.

I got a great one from Asda. Cheap, slightly retro style (polka dots and halter neck) and adjustable sides to grow with the bump. Cheap too! First time I've ever liked a swim suit - and I didn't expect that!

I've just been looking at this tonight! I need one I can use for the pool each week and that'll do for Spain in the summer too. JoJo maman bebe had some nice ones. The ones on asos are really nice but many had quite, erm, low cut bottoms and I was a little worried I'd be permanently tucking my pubes in (they've been impossible to control since getting pg, must be the hormones...)

I got a decent one for swimming from decathlon.co.uk for £10 all the ones one high street were really low cut, great for holidays but not do great for swimming.

Oh - worth adding I've been swimming in the Asda one every week from 14 weeks to now (29 weeks) and its great. I do about a km of slow breast stroke every week and it's very comfy. Legs are low cut enough to not have to worry about anything popping out and the general wear after being washed every week is really good.
I don't work for Asda : ) but it's just been one of the best buys of my pregnancy!

I wouldn't recommend the mother are tankini for serious swimming - the fabric at the front flaps about a lot until your bump gets big enough to fill it!

I second Asda! I bought a plain black swimming costume and it's the comfiest thing ive ever worn!

I got a really nice tankini from Bravisimo which did me fine throughout pg though obviously I did show a bit of middle by the end. Tankinis are great for when you need to nip to the loo every 5 minutes due to bladder-squashage too.

FishWithABicycle · 10/06/2014 11:24

bravissimo

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I am off to order one now Smile.

Mothercare do a nice navy 2-piece with a halter neck, it doesn't gape so you can swim properly in it.

Speedo

Got mine on eBay for next to nothing, did two pg. great boob support.

FraterculaArctica · 10/06/2014 19:09

I got a tankini from Jojo Maman Bebe (on ebay so was cheaper), was very pleased with it though only used it in late pregnancy - would've flapped about earlier (and I never got round to going swimming till 34 weeks or so). Also took it into hospital though didn't end up using it in the birthing pool in the end.

I love maternity tankini from Next. Really great fit, rouching at the sides that can be expanded with bump. Love it much more than any of my non maternity swimwear!

sorry to hijack the thread, but do tankinis stay in place? I imagined them riding up and leaving my middle all exposed - is that not the case? There seem to be more tankinis than swimsuits out there!
