hi

anyone know what the advice is re swimming outdoors in lakes/ponds when pregnant? I live in London and used to be a regular visitor to the Hampstead ponds and would love to continue this summer but suddenly thought that whatever it is that's in rats' pee probably isn't a great idea when pregnant...

Also, am going to Canada at the end of the month and DP's family have a house on a lake and we always go swimming. The lake is very clean but very, erm, organic, if you see what I mean...! Would there be any issue swimming while pregnant?

I obviously don't intend to swallow gallons of water but just wanted to check. I'm currently 18 wks pregnant (DC2)

I would think that its fine tbh, just be aware your more at risk of getting cramp whilst prg so be careful/don't swim to far out. Also, is your tetanus up to date?

Have you considered going to a lido? I've been going to my local one and it's been amazing : ) I know it's not the same as an outdoor lake etc but might still be nice.

I've swum in rivers, lakes and the sea since I've been pregnant. Sometimes in a wetsuit, sometimes not. Sometimes in the UK, sometimes in Asia. Has been fine.
