Hi guys,

I'm currently 15 + 6 pregnant with my first. I was expecting to at least have a teeny bump by now due to being very slim (5ft7 and 115lbs (lost a couple of kgs too since being pregnant)) and I guess must have good stomach muscles as I have horses so exercise a lot. However I thought if you were slimmer you showed sooner? I've also got barely any hardening of my stomach.. I guess if you press down it's hard but I thought that should have popped out slightly at least?
I've felt no movement or anything either but I guess that's normal this early on...

I was just looking for a bit of advice on whether this is normal or not really?

Thank you!

With my first I was barely showing by 20 weeks and I'm a similar height and weight to you. I didn't put on any weight either until after 20 weeks either. No movement until 17 weeks. I felt completely normal and wondered if it was all real. Don't worry by the end I'd put on 3 stone and was very obviously pregnant. DD was 8lb11.
I'm now 6+5 with my second and feel like Im already showing. Must be the pre stretched muscles Hmm

Everyone's different. I had nothing at my first scan (15+2) and huge bump at my second. (20/21) my friend was huge straight away.

My friend who is your height but around 150lbs basically never had a big bump

Wind gave me a bloat bump up to about 12/13 weeks. Then no proper bump until week 20 ish. Today at 24 weeks I'm wearing pre-pregnancy clothes and look no different to how I did before I was pregnant.

Everyone seems to be different!

I'm quite slight (only 5ft 2, so short as well) and never really show until 20 weeks +. I've always been able to wear my normal jeans up until around then. I distinctly remember querying with my midwife at 16 weeks last time (DC2) why I had no bump and couldn't feel a 'hard' bit - but when she checked, she could feel the top of my fundus, and said it was fine so it must just have grown up before it grew out. I did have growth scans last time round as I measure a bit small in my late 2nd / early 3rd trimesters, but end up huge by the end (and DC was 8lb 10, so no growth issues!). I'm almost 12 weeks with DC3 and don't even have a hint of a bump yet.

I am 5"4 and i am/was a size 8/10. I didn't start getting a tiny bump till I was about 20/21 weeks. I was still in my Pre pregnancy jeans at 16 weeks. Don't worry Op it will come... :-)

cactus123 · 08/06/2014 18:14

Thank you so much for all your stories and reassurance guys! So glad it's all normal! Got my midwife appointment on Tuesday so will stop worrying so much now! :D wish you all happy pregnancies x

I had DD NYE but come on pregnancy board every so often in case I can help. Congratulations Op Thanks

Finola1step · 08/06/2014 18:33

Sounds perfectly normal to me. Quite common to feel first fluttering a of movement from about 20 weeks. Some pieiple will always be sooner, some later. If you are physically very fit, you may not show for a few more weeks. Congratulations.

Ummmmgogo · 08/06/2014 18:34

The stronger your stomach muscles are the longer it takes for your bump to show. There will come a time when You are so big and uncomfortable that you will wonder why you were so desperate for a bump! I'm the same height as you and about ten pounds heavier. I felt like I was showing at 20weeks but no one else could tell until about 25 weeks! Xx

squizita · 08/06/2014 20:51

I am small and only showed from week 19 or 20! Plus was useless at finding my uterus, all is well. Now have a bump like Mr Bump ... Sticks right out at the front like a beach ball lol!

JamJimJam · 08/06/2014 20:54

I am same height and weight and didn't show with either pg until 22 weeks, and even then it was visible only to me.

TwigletFiend · 09/06/2014 12:46

I sympathise - am 5'6" and weighed 56kg at first appointment. I am also a horse rider, so have pretty reasonable abdominal muscles! I went for my 16 week appointment on Thursday and MW kept trying to get me to relax my stomach muscles so she could have a feel around - I had to keep telling her that they were relaxed, they just didn't get any softer than that! I have a tiny bit of hardening in my very lowest stomach region, I think. Pretty much in line with my hip bones atm, no higher. Minimal 'bump' too - I think maybe a slight curve out, but only DP and I think it's obvious for now. It'll happen eventually, I'm sure! On the plus side, we should both have excellent pelvic floors Grin

When I had my first I was 5ft 11 and weighed just under 9 st, I didn't show even a hint of a bump till 18 weeks and even then didn't look pregnant till about 28 weeks.

ellelouise327 · 09/01/2020 11:18

hi im pregnant with my first child, im 16 weeks and 3 days with no bump is this normal?

CoffeeAndCarbs · 09/01/2020 11:57

Hi @ellelouise327 I'm 17+2 and don't have a bump either. It's totally normal at this stage (especially for your first). I have a little bit of a 'podge' but no bump as such. I'm just waiting to explode overnight x

ellelouise327 · 09/01/2020 12:17
