subchorionic hematoma- anyone got one? So confused!

Hello,

I am 8 weeks pregnant and up to now thing's have been going well, i have actually felt good!

Anyway on Tues morning i went to the loo to find pink blood on the tissue, i panicked and called my MW who booked me in for an early scan the next day, i spent that whole night cramping and the pink turned in to brown spotting mainly when i wiped.

I was sure it was a MC however Wed scan showed the baby at 7w5d with a nice heart beat, i was do relieved!

The scan tech said i had an area of bruising outside the sac which is likely causing the bleeding, i didn't get to see anyone else so have been left very confused!

The spotting has continued as have the light cramps and back ache, i called the gyno unit this am as the bleeding is red again, i was told i can't be seen or scanned again until next wed as it is their protocol and thst it's likely the hematoma causing it again.

I have rested and drank lot's of water but it doesn't seem to help, i haven't had anything explained and feel so confused and terrified that it is a MC.

Can anyone offer any advice? All iv read online has scared me even more

I haven't exactly had this but I had a pool of blood beneath the sac that caused bleeding (brown, pink, and one one occasion red) and sometimes mild cramping on and off for the first ten weeks. Your scan will tell you more about the location of the blood, but in the meantime, try not to panic (I know how hard that is)

Thank your for your reply, your situation does sound similar, i can see the bleed on the scan picture which is alot smaller than the sac, it's just really scary seeing constant bleeding and not knowing if it's normal! X

I had a sch. I bled every day for 3 weeks from 6 and a half weeks. At the start it was very heavy and crampy, like a period. It resolved itself. It was a horribly worrying time though. The good news is that sch bleeds are from outside the sac, not close to the baby.

It's awful. I really feel for you. Mine was an IVF pregancy so I was quite lucky in that I had pretty much immediate acccess to a scan at the small fetility unit where I was treated. I think I had about 10! Just put you feet up and rest. xx

I had a SCH with DC1, can't remember the exact measurements but at 8w the SCH was twice the size of the sac. The bleeding continued throughout the pregnancy but the baby was fine. She's just coming up to the end of her first year at school...

I had one with DD2. Had a scan at 6 weeks as was being seen in recurrent miscarriage clinic all fine. Huge brown bleed at 6 +3. Automatically assumed the worst. Scan showed a 2cm haematoma ( bruise) next to the sac. Continued spotting over next few weeks.

Further heavy bleed at 10 weeks then no bleeding after that. DD is now 10 months.

I had it too...I went for a scan at 8 weeks due to bleeding and they saw it then. My doctor told me to expect more bleeding as it 'works its way out', but that it would probably be reabsorbed and go away within a few weeks. It's usually due to implantation or something I think.

By 10 weeks it had gone completely and the baby's now healthy at 23 weeks. It's so scary seeing the bleeding, but just take it easy, don't do anything too strenuous and try (easier said than done) to relax!

It's good to hear all these positive story's :) im going to try and relax now (as mich as you can with a 2 year old!) the cramping seem's to have reduced now which is a big relief.

I had one of these and everyone was very negative as it was quite big apparently. I can't remember the details of the size.

They found it on a scan at around 7 weeks from memory but it had resolved itself completely 2 weeks later. I had some bleeding from it around 7 weeks which is why I was scanned. But I only had a tiny bit of spotting between the 7 week and 9 week scans.

I also was quite crampy before I got the all-clear. I think the cramping was from my body absorbing it.
