Hello, just wondering if anyone here has had a full term low birth weight baby, and then had a second baby, what was number 2's weight compared to your first?

I had a low birth weight baby at 4lbs8 full term and now I'm pregnant with number 2, I'm just wondering if this one will be tiny too.

I'd be interested to know if other mums went on to have another small baby or a normal sized baby.

First was 3.13, second 4.12 and third 7.6. First two early, last one born in due date.

First was 5.5 at 38 weeks, second was 4.6 at 37 weeks.

I had 5lbs and number 2 was 7.13

I think it probably depends on the reason for the low birth weight. This is what I was told despite the opposite problem- very large babies.

5Lbs 4 due to pre eclampsia at 37 weeks.
Then
5Lbs 14 at 38 weeks also due to pre eclampsia.

Both totally healthy but hungry boys.

Ds was 5lbs 9, 8 days early and dd 4 years later was 6lbs, 1 week early. Currently 25 wks pregnant with dc 3 and still not visibly pregnant but midwives are not too fussed as apparently not everyone's built to carry big babies. Im not as skinny as I used to be either so your build counts for nothing. My tiny 5 foot, size 6 friend had 9lb + plus babies Shock.

My DD was 5lb4oz and bang on time. I'm having growth scans this time because of that. I had my last scan yesterday (I'm now 36 weeks) - I asked if they could estimate weight and they said 5lb 15oz. But it's only an estimate and I've heard lots of stories about them bring inaccurate. We'll see! I wonder if I just don't make big babies (I'm 5'1", size 10). DD is still petite.
