Do you/How often do you talk to your baby inside you?

Hi guys! Probably seems a really random question but I was basically wondering this, and also what do you talk about?

I'm 35 weeks pregnant and as much as I want to interact I don't really know what to say and feel a bit silly. I've been told over and over about how babies can hear you and respond well to listening to music etc in the womb.

Am I mad for overthinking on this? Haha

I'm only 23+6 but I sing to baby and hubby is obsessed with talking to him through my belly when we're in bed! I wouldn't worry about it too much though

I rarely do tbh. I've told him a couple of times recently that today would be the perfect day for his arrival but he doesn't seem to be listening to me so far.
I did talk a fair bit to my first but I don't think it made much difference really.

Err, never. The 'baby' is still a bit of an abstract concept to me, even though it's kicking the hell out of my bladder quite a lot of the time.

The odd time we do, but never more than a sentence once a day just to say 'hello'. I remember my SIL playing mozart to my nephew in utero, god i feel neglectful now!!

Hahahahah. Dc1 heard the dog barking so often in utero she was utterly unphased by it when she came out, other than saying 'I have to eat this x for the baby' with dc2, or 'the baby liked that' when she kicks when I'm eating, i don't talk to her. My dd tells me that the baby can't talk to us yet as babies can't talk so not to be silly :)

I didn't really do this. I reckon the baby hears you talking to everyone else though so they will get to hear your voice that way - I'm assuming at this stage they can't tell whether you are talking to them or someone else

It doesn't seem to have caused any long term developmental issues so far

I dont and didnt with the last one (but yapped at her non stop from the minute she was born).

dd is 2 1/2 and she likes stroking my tummy and singing to the bump and saying "morning Baby are you enjoying swimming inside mammys tummy?" ?Heart melts?

I never did this. They can hear your voice anyway!

I find it quite hard but I'm trying. We have been warned that our baby is likely to be very prem and in special care due to IUGR and as a result we won't be able to hold him/her much so hopefully the familiarity of our voices will provide some comfort. Mr euro keeps telling the bump off for worrying us!

Remember that babies are hearing your voice even if you are talking to someone else.

My OH chants to bub about hating the cat most days. The only time I speak to him is if hes practicing karate inside me or if im egging him on to make an appearance.

I'm sure he's had the pleasure of listening to my dulcet tones gobbing off at our two disobedient dogs on a regular basis. His first words will be "get down" or "no" lol

They can't talk yet so as such unless you live alone on a remote island it doesn't matter because they hear you anyway and just need to know what you sound like! :) Mine must hear me a lot LOL, mainly talking about cake or work stuff.

I tend to mutter to myself anyway so I'm now just directing the speech towards Blueberry instead!

As a teacher, mine should be pretty used to hearing my voice... (3,2,1...) but I try to talk to him sometimes too, more for me than him as I'm really tryin to think of him as a person and I think this might help. We also sing a little song to him before we go to bed as a way for DH to bond with him a bit and to get him used to a song we can sing to him at night time. The more I do it, the less silly I feel : )

I feel a bit daft talking to my bump sometimes but do lots of rubbing of the bump which I hope isn't annoying!!

You guys are making me feel a lot better- thanks haha. I have read the odd book to my bump in an effort to say something. I read ( God knows what I read half the time) that if you read them the same story enough they recognize it later and it soothes them. Then I feel like a Wally reading Teddy Bears Trousers out loud and wonder if the neighbours think I'm odd.

DP is great though! I suppose because for us we're always acknowledging bumpy but blokes don't if that makes sense? But he blows raspberries on my bump, gives it kisses and asks what she's been up to.

...do I sound like a neurotic FTM?

I didn't specifically talk to my baby, I worked with small children so there was lots of singing with them. We played music to my bump, there is a specific Mozart track that is even now (18 months after birth) guaranteed to send him to sleep.

My partner read a book to the bump a couple of times a week and sang to the bump, dp speaks a different language to me so it felt important that the baby heard dp's language as well.

Now I am 20 weeks pregnant with dc2, no one has so much as uttered a word to it poor neglected baby. Ds1 occasionally kisses my bump.

We did notice that ds reacted to dp's voice when he was a newborn.

I dont talk to my bump. I know if DH was around he would talk to it so i feel a bit bad. I'm not worried about it not knowing my voice though as i talk a lot at work. And am constantly talking to (telling off) the dog at home.
I know once it's here i'll talk to it, but feel a bit silly talking to my own belly.

I don't really chat to the bump. I chat to the cat a lot more. I sometimes ask it why it keeps kicking my bladder (baby, not the cat) and whether it has any plans to get out of breech position.

I haven't played it any music although I did feel a bit guilty when listening to gangsta rap at a full volume the other day and have started listening to classic FM instead!

I'm 30 weeks and rarely say anything to him aside from 'ouch' when he kicks me in the belly button. Occasionally I'll play some music on my iPad when I'm on it. He hears me talking all day though so that's the same thing surely....

Im 37-38 weeks now and do talk to bump but usually only if I'm on my own. Usually things like "do you mind" or "take it easy" when she's really kicking the hell out of me! But also just silly things like telling her about my day. Sounds daft I know. Lately been saying "my bag is packed and we are ready so please come out and meet us soon".
DS is 6 and puts his mouth really close to my tummy and says hello and goodbye to her and other cute things

Not much lol i ask him to move sometimes and what the hell is he up to in there when he is hurting me lol he soon moves :) hubby talks to him mkre than me, like you it dint feel right talking to your stomach lol x

I talk to bump when uncomfortable-tell baby to move/stop kicking quite so hard! Dh then normally tells bump not to listen to me...hope this isn't a sign of things to come!

Doesn't make sense to me. When the baby is here I'll talk to him.

DH told the bump "MOVE! Don't worry your mother." the other day when I was worried by lack of movement. It moved! Weird!

Talked to my first quite a bit. Needless to say didn't talk to my second much!
