Sex of Baby

I had my 37 week check up this week and the midwife could tell what sex my baby was by the size of its bottom. All I know is that is has a
large bottom - does anyone know whether this is therefore a boy or a girl or is it just another old wives tale?

Big bum? Must be a girl Poor lass is probably looking around your tummy thinking "Does my bum look big in this?"

I think it must be an old wive's tale. It will still have roughly a 50% success rate at predicting the sex though.

old wives tale. one of my old colleagues (australian dunno if that has anything to do with it) has a large arse, and he even admits it himself

LOL Soupy but yes I would say it is an old wives tale. My midwife guessed my ds was a ds and his weight accurately though

I was told during my first labour by my very experienced mv that i was having a girl after she saw the head crowning.
In my drugged state I believed her. Imagine my surprise on later examing my baby to discover she was a boy!

that was before he was born, not after!!

Both my DSs had big bums BTW but a friend's DS had no bum at all.

As a midwife that is a new one to me

At my last antenatal check at 36 weeks the MW referred to my baby's "big squishy bum" and I know its a boy! I would like to point out that I have a very small neat bum (well for a big fat pregnant woman) so this baby must take after my DH...........

I've got two DS's, one was born with no bum and the other with a big bum.

Poor wee baby. No doubt posing prettily for the camera and giving her best wave - only to hear a voice booming out from beyond the darkness:

"Look at the size of the backside on THAT!"
