Ok, I've been looking for some chilled out/ambient/relaxing music to play when I'm giving birth.

What's your favourite one?

I didnt think about music last time around but I am planning a waterbirth this time and may just bring some music along to play when I get in the tub.

Good idea from a pp about weddibg music - ive got the cd around here somewhere from our wedding so will pack that

AnnaMariaWhiskers · 03/06/2014 21:24

I had a waterbirth and listened to this random album (Einaudi - Islands) my DH found: Http:www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B004YAS9M8?pc_redir=1401703033&robot_redir=1

It was lush and I didn't realise but I had it on loop for 7 hours. Bet everyone else was a bit fed up, but same again for dc2!

Good to plan ahead with your music though. My DSisIL didn't take any, so put on something from the selection at the birth centre and ended up giving birth to Meatloaf's Bat out of Hell.

AnnaMaria I've been listening to Ludovico Einaudi too! Lolling @ Bat Out of Hell. I love that album!

KeeperOfBees · 04/06/2014 09:32

I had a CS, the crazy doctor (reminded me of the counting count fron seasame st) asked if I minded Queen blasting out the sound system.

Everyone was smiling and laughing, it was brilliant.

CatFaceCrayola · 04/06/2014 11:35

I've been contemplating this. Although I don't really DO quiet relaxing tunes. I want Manic Street Preachers, Pulp and Show-tunes!

CatFaceCrayola · 04/06/2014 11:36

Bat out of hell will totally be in my play list too.... Love that song!

AnnaMariaWhiskers · 04/06/2014 20:03

Some good taste out there! I'd recommend Greg Ryan's music too m.soundcloud.com/greg-ryan . Coincidentally he's just released an acoustic-folk version of Bat out of Hell too!

ViviPru · 04/06/2014 21:33

Haha that's perfect then, Anna!

Zero 7, Goldfrapp.

I had 'push it' by salt n pepa on my playlist. We added it as a joke but it actually came on whilst I was bouncing around on the birthing ball at 6 cm dilated and the midwife thought it was hilarious. We were going for fun and upbeat rather than soothing though. She also loved our choice of some classic backstreet boys tunes and had a little dance around the room. Some of my best labor memories involve songs from my playlist, so choose wisely!

kelper · 04/06/2014 21:46

I did a playlist. it was on an iPod. birthing suite had no way of playing it! so DH put the radio on, and i very clearly remember shouting, "i can't stand that noise, turn the fucking thing off!!!" so no music here!

BeerHunter · 04/06/2014 21:53

Leona lewis, I keep bleeding and anything by wet wet wet.

flingingmelon · 04/06/2014 21:57

I had quite poppy dance music during my water birth - hot chip and M83, that sort of thing. Worked a treat with the gas and air, it was 1999 all over again Wink

theborrower · 04/06/2014 22:13

I was going to start a similar thread! I'm putting together an iPod of ambient stuff like Lemon Jelly and Air, as well as some favourite vocalists like Nina Simone. I'm also putting together a CD in case of another CS (at the moment I'm heading for VBAC but a planned one could still be on the cards) and it's got favourite laid back tunes including some Beatles. DD was born to The Doors' Riders on the Storm, which they had on in the theatre. Not Breakin' Through To The Other Side, which would have been quite apt Smile

ViviPru · 04/06/2014 22:16

Nutella that's hilarious! Love this thread Smile
