just looking on amazon, there seem to be a few, but difficult to choose between them. any tips from anyone on which are ok? there seems to be a risk of getting something cheesy "O'Baby book of names" etc.
We're looking for something detailed and comprehensive.

thanks

thanks Debbsy

is the o'baby book any good? it sounded like it might be a bit cheesy from the title, but did you find it good?

I don't have a book recommendation but have you tried looking on www.behindthename.com

They have a good Irish names section and it's quite a serious site with reliable information about the history and meanings of names.

I know it is not a book but www.babynamesofireland.com is very thorough. You can also hear the pronunciation of each name which is great for those tricky spellings!
