I don't know how I'm going to last two more weeks...

I've history of having very large babies (10lb 12 & 11lb 13). I'm 37 weeks with my third and she's expected to be a similar size. I'm booked in for my ELCS two weeks on Monday but I don't know how I'm going to manage until then. The last couple of days I've had a really severe pain in my hip, hard to describe where, it's round near my groin. I think it's due to the weight of her, she's estimated at 9lb+ at the moment. Anyway it's stopping me sleeping, walking, sitting, most things really. I've been in tears all morning because I'm just so exhausted. I don't have another midwife appointment until four days before my section so I can't even have a moan to her. It's going to be a long two weeks.

You have my sympathies allinson - I'm 38+3 and bloody uncomfortable and desperate for DD's arrival, and she's only estimated to be 7lb! God knows how you feel with another big one in there. I'd second going to see the midwife - might not be much she can do, but it might help you to vent a little at least?

Is there anyway they will move you forward? I have big babies to and have managed to convince them to induce me early (39 weeks), as like you, I get very sore and swollen. Can you talk to your consultant and explain how you are feeling?

Allinson2014 · 01/06/2014 15:19

My section is at 39+1. I begged my consultant to do it earlier as I've two previous sections and was worried about my scars if I have a 12lb baby! But apparently new guidelines mean they must be done at 39 weeks unless there's a medical reason to do it earlier.

I didn't have this pain then and I'm not sleeping now. My DH said I was crying last night in my sleep every time I moved. It is so sore. I'm not sure if I've pulled something or if it's just weight/position of baby. Paracetamol doesn't touch the pain although I'd rather not take it anyway of course. I'm not sure what I can do. I could try to get in with my midwife but then I guess she'd have to make me an appointment with the consultant and that's possibly going to take two weeks anyway.

There an advice line but it's not open until tomorrow, might give that a try. Short of turning up at the hospital I don't know really what else I can do. Even if I went I guess they'd just say that it's late pregnancy pain and I've only got a couple of weeks left now.

Sorry for the rant, I'm feeling very fed up and sorry for myself today.
