Sorry if this is long!
I'm currently 41+6 with my first DC and have been in slow labour for 6 days! I never even knew slow labour existed before now.
Does anyone have any experience of this?
Basically every evening regular contractions start coming around every 7-10 minutes apart and this goes on ALL night until early morning and then nothing! They just stop. I'll have few niggles during the day until the whole process starts again like clockwork in the evening. I had my bloody show last Saturday and continue to lose some of my mucus plug everyday. Needless to say I'm exhausted and very frustrated.
Yesterday I was examined by my midwife who said I'm 1-2cm dilated and my cervix if favourable. As I'm planning a home water birth I'm really not wanting any interventions, but out of sheer frustration I asked her to do I sweep yesterday but still nothing's happened! Can anyone give me hope that the end is nearly in sight please! Thanks

With DS (my first) I remember being 1cm dilated at about 39+1, for the rest of that week I kept having twinges and I knew things were gearing up. During that week I felt fine in myself and just carried on as normal. On the afternoon of my due date I had two really strong contractions, second one broke my waters and he was born 7hrs later.
Hope it's over soon for you (that's when the fun and games really start Wink)

I had that from Thursday night until Sunday night, just the way you describe, with nothing at all from about 9am-3pm, then proper contractions the rest of the time - so no bloody sleep! Then on Sunday evening things suddenly kicked up about three gears, and she was born Monday evening.

I try to view it as a blessing in disguise - each one of those contractions was one less during the intense bit!

So exciting that you'll be meeting your babe soon!
In the meantime, eat lots (I guarantee you'll be hungry by the end!) rest if you can, while I envy you your little squishy baby. Smile

I had similar - my waters broke, then labour was v slow. Steady, and hurt lots, but slow. After 48 hours I was only 1cm dilated. I ended up on the drip to speed things up, and had an epidural so I could finally get some sleep!
