I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!prescribinginfosub

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

A bed . . . But no drip stand. Apparently they've run out of those as well. Feel like I'm starring in some sort of satirical spoof expose of the NHS.

Lottiedoubtie · 09/07/2014 21:35

kali thank goodness you have a bed. I hope you can sleep.

okla I hope someone's with you taking care of you? Do go to hospital if in doubt, better to be safe.

Lottiedoubtie · 09/07/2014 21:36

No drip stand ffs... Flowers

Oklahoma · 09/07/2014 21:41

Kali you must be waiting for the 'you've been framed moment'.

Lottie I have a very attentive and concerned DH who is still working from home so I am being well cared for.

kalidasa · 09/07/2014 21:48

They're going to improvise using the TV bracket thing apparently. I've been off it for ages though so I hope they get on with it.

Glad you are feeling a tiny bit better okla. Hope everyone else is bearing up.

Meerka · 10/07/2014 04:49

well thank god you're not on a trolly kali but no drip? jeeze. I hope they've managed to find one for you :( Poor you. Poor NHS, too.

okla I hope you're a bit better, have you managed to drink anything ....

Oklahoma · 10/07/2014 09:32

Feeling marginally more human today. Think the vomiting is back to normal levels and have managed to eat and drink a little bit.

Hope everyone else is holding up ok.

LucindaE · 10/07/2014 11:12

Kali I hope they did fix a drip up?
Oklahoma How are you this morning? The stick thing would have been checking ketones, which with dark urine would be dramatic, and I'm surprised she wasn't more concened about the dehydration.

Who wass it who said a midwife expressed concern about being underweight looking- and seemed to think that despite Hyperemesis, there should have been more weight gain? An optimistic midwife!
Waves to Lottie and Meerka.
Hope Everyone is coping today.

Oklahoma could your dh pop out to a chemist to get you some ketone sticks so you could check what level you are at? No point wasting your energy heading to a hospital unnecessarily. Could you call PSS helpline to see what other medications might be worth trying? I always found them really helpful.

kali glad you got a bed... no idea what to say about lack of drip stands!!!

FloweryBoots · 10/07/2014 12:13

Krikey, Kali, hope you had a reasonable night in the end, and that you can get back home again soon.

Okla glad youre doing a little better today, hope you are looking after yourself as well as you can. I was going to suggest what starry did.

I'm doing OK. had a bit better day yesterday and doing well (relatively speaking!) today too. I managed to walk to rpe school with DS this morning for teh first time in a couple of weeks. I've had a good think and realised I was quite a lot worse by this point last time so I'm really hoping it's not going to be so bad this time round.

For the last two nights I have tried REALLY hard not to give DD her bed time breast feed, and failed misserably both times! So, not tried the medication yet as a result. Good to know it's there on the shelf if I get desperate thoguh, and FX for more better days like yesterday and today. Now if everywhere could just stop smelling so horrible...

LucindaE · 10/07/2014 14:21

Starry Great idea - as Oklas* OH is home, I should have thought of that!

Everyone
I'm sorry about this, it's inconvenient, but my pc is now in such a state it may break down completely at any minute and has to go in for transfer of files tommorow.
HERE'S A LINK TO A NEW THREAD AS THIS OLD ONE MAY FILL UP WHILE I'M NOT ONLINE
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2129529-Hyperemesis-Support
Going to have to get new pc while we go down to Buckinghamshire for some days. I know lovely Meerka and Livingzuid
will be on here in mother hen's absence with their invaluable support.
Look after yourselves in my absence. I do hope Kali and those using
mobiles are able to get this information.
xx
