Measurements at scan not good, do I need to be worried?

I have just had a scan at 35 weeks (procedure at my hospital). They said baby's abdominal circumference had gone from 60th centile at 22 weeks, to 12th centile today. Same story for the humerus. Head diameter 50th centile at both scans.

All blood flows were fine, but sonographer seemed a bit worried and is rescaning in two weeks.

Do I need to be worried? What can I do to help baby? Eat lots of protein? I am driving myself loopy because I have been under so much stress this pregnancy (split up with dh yesterday after 6 months of hell) I'm so scared I've caused him harm.

You definitely haven't caused any harm, and I don't think you need to be too worried. I am no expert in these things but if they were that worried I'm sure you would have been scanned again within days, or they would have been talking about delivering the baby. Re scan in two weeks sounds like keeping an eye on things, rather than anything too urgent. Look after yourself, it sounds like you've had a tough time!

I have the impression that these measurements are quite difficult to be accurate with. I wonder if the previous scan was done incorrectly. Definitely a good thing that the head circ has stayed on track

Agree with Flexi, if they were concerned you'd have been back in. Rest, eat and take it easy after what sounds like a rough time, we are here if you need some moral support. hugs Thanks

Late scans are notoriously inaccurate, and they really do try to find non-problems at this point. So if the medical people aren't worried enough to do anything other than double check in a few weeks, then you really don't need to be worried, either.

Thank you so much for the reassurance. I am overblowing it because it seems so unmanageable on top of everything else. Hopefully baby will be just fine. Thanks again.

I agree with everyone else! Scans at this point aren't hugely accurate and if they were really worried they wouldn't have let you go anywhere let alone leave it two weeks!! I know it's easier said than done but try no to worry too much Smile

Tummy measurements in particular are very inaccurate, the baby might have just done a wee ( they actually wee whilst inside us, how strange!) and that is why the centile was lower.

12th centile isn't off the chart tiny so don't worry, my ds now as a toddler grows not in proportion.

It's true about the wee! I watched ds wee whilst having an ultrasound at 33w, very weird!!!
