Nearly 26 weeks pregnant and have put down any symptoms to just being 'normal' or the fact I've got a 2 year old and I'm not sleeping too well.
This last couple of weeks I've been increasingly breathless even after light activity. I can't lay on my back at all at night as it makes me feel like I'm suffocating.
I've started having palpitations even when I'm not doing anything.
I've been having dizzy spells and I'm ridiculously tired even after a full nights sleep.
So, is it just normal pregnancy stuff and I'm worrying over nothing or should I make a gp appointment?
My mw is never around and doesn't answer texts or calls so I don't want to wait on her and I've no mw appointment for about 3 weeks.

you could get checked out for anaemia, do pester your midwife and/or GP to have iron levels tested. Sorry you're suffering

Lozmatoz · 29/05/2014 11:36

Sounds pretty normal to me but always worth being checked out by GP.

I'm in the same situation, a 2 year old and 23 weeks pregnant. Breathless just standing and talking at the same time. Had palpitations in both pregnancies, was told by GP if it wasn't painful there was nothing to worry about.

Struggling when lying on your back is pretty normal - and hugely annoying - so maybe try your left hand side or prop yourself up more.

Ah, if it nothing or just low iron I'll wait till next mw app. Going away tomorrow and it's a ball ache trying to get in at the doctors if it's nothing.
Thank you!

I had something similar with DS2 and was told it was normal. If the palpitations last more than 30 minutes you should get to hospital so they can monitor you while it's going on. Having an ECG when nothing is happening won't show anything.

I struggled to get hold of the MW too but went to see the nurse instead who really helped put my mind at ease. Make sure you rest as much as you can and drink plenty.

Sounds like anaemia or low iron levels maybe? I'm 29 wks pregnant and only notice breathlessness if I've walked up stairs or something and am still lying comfortably on my back. Everyone is different but sounds like you should get your bloods tested for the above.

hartmel · 30/05/2014 04:29

Pregnant with dc2 and have exactly the same symptoms as you. Had it with my first and now with second too.
With my first got a lot of blood test done, ECG and blood pressure checks all came back normal. Apparently these symptoms are norm for me when I'm pregnant.

All I have to do is just rest take iron and take it easy (well not really easy when you have a 8 month old child)

CoolCat2014 · 30/05/2014 09:37

Sounds like me at the moment (26+3). Saw GP this morning and he's not worried (but depends what your palpitations and blood pressure are like), but has sent me for bloods and ECG just to check. It's probably normal, but worth getting checked over.

miracle0812 · 31/05/2014 10:31

Deffo needs checking the breathlessness when lying down is not good so please ring your gp ASAP x

GingerRodgers · 31/05/2014 13:10

Thanks all. Sounds like it's pretty normal so I'll just see what she says at my next app.

You could get yourself some Spatone or Ferroglobulin in the meantime. Can be bought otc and won't hurt.

GingerRodgers · 31/05/2014 13:23

Good idea haunted thank you
