28 weeks- worried not much movement - just booked a private scan

Hi, I don't really have a question as such, just been feeling a bit worried as all the info I have read says that I should be feeling vigorous activity from my baby by now, and I'm just not. I get the odd fluttery sensation, but nothing like the proper kick I felt once at about 24 weeks. I have worked myself up a bit and have just booked a private scan for reassurance. I live abroad and this is my first pregnancy - feeling a bit stressed out not really knowing the system over here and my Mid wife is a bit useless and impossible to get hold of. Am I being a stress head - my husband keeps saying he's sure everything is fine and stress is the worst thing for baby. But I can't help feeling anxious.

Thanks for reading!

Did you have a scan at 20 weeks, have you been told the position of the placenta?

I have had an anterior placenta with 2 of mine, which acts to cushion the kicks and you can't feel as much.

Having a scan for reassurance sounds like a good idea if you are worried, but to me it sounds like you need to pin your midwife down, get her to explain the system to you, and be on hand to answer concerns too.

have you looked at the count the kicks website? I am 36 weeks and my baby was very quiet until a couple of weeks ago. it was also because I wasn't noticing his movements while out and about each day. every evening I lay down and see how long it takes to feel 10 movements. on the count the kicks website it says you should feel 10 in an hour, and to phone your midwife if you don't feel 10 in 2 hours. I hope your scan goes well.

Thanks - snoggle my 20 week scan was fine, no mention of position of placenta- will ask today. I agree re midwife - it's difficult as I am not fluent in this language and she is not that patient!

sleepingdragon hmm, I just haven't had that level of activity at all yet. I noticed a pattern a few weeks ago at night - the baby would be quite active when I was trying to sleep, but recently have only felt the occasional flutter. My tummy is still growing, and other than this I feel fine, but glad I have booked scan.
