I drank water and they still said I had GD. My partner and diabetic mother don't think I am because my sugars are rarely high and haven't changed my diet.

Yep! I had to starve myself, have the blood test, down a bottle and half of lucozade then wait two hours at the surgery(most boring moment in my life!) and then have another blood test taken. In the korning id already checked my levels with my mums lil bleeby machine thing and was fine, i knew i dint have it anyway but cus mums type 2 i had to have it done. Youl be fine, i understand wat you mean though, i had a couple of lil sips of water in the night and morning dint affect it. I cant get through the nught withiut a deink next to me, my mouth gies like cotton in the night! X

Worth it to find out, not worth any risks to your baby. I always had symptoms of low blood sugar itch ought, but I turned out mine was pretty erratic. I had GD, but it was no major hassle, and fortunately, DD was/ is fine.

Blood test is terminally boring though!

Oh, and I had to test 1 hr after food, needed it to be below 7.

Geminiwitch22 · 27/05/2014 17:08

Same as Olivo, mine was strange have to test 4 times a day before breakfast then an hour after every meal but told the specialist after a week they were impressed how controlled it was and I hadn't changed anything!
