Booking in appointment

Hi, I got a positive test 2 weekends ago - but as my period are a bit irregular I'm not sure how far along I am. Aside from the weird tiredness, sore tits and preoccupation with chips, I don't really feel pregnant....so I was wondering what happens at the booking in appointment - I've filled out all the stuff in the pregnancy pack, and guess a lot of it will be just going through that, but will the midwife be able to give me a better guess as to how pregnant I am?

Also, does anyone have any tips for easing sore boob pain? Thanks in advance!

Congratulations. Sorry no tip for boob pain. Get used to aches and pains. Welcome to pregnancy! The 1st appointment is around an hour long. Lots of questions ref family history, lifestyle etc. Poss blood test, blood pressure, urine sample, weight and height etc. They won't be able to give you a due date. That will happen at your 12 weeks scan.

Hope that helps a bit

Congrats! I remember the booking in appt just being a lot of questions about your health and your family, lots of form filling etc. Have you booked in for your scan yet?

Omg that early boob pain, it hurt so much!! The only thing that helped me was to always wear a padded bra during the day, and to avoid lifting anything against my chest!

Congratulations :)

Thanks everyone! I nearly battered my husband for touching them yesterday seethes
Ah, that's good news about the booking in appointment - only the being weighed to worry about. Expecting a bit of a lecture. Now if I can just get my cats to stop following me...

Not booked in for scan yet - preg pack had nothing on who to call for it. Hopefully more details at booking in next week or I'll be reduced to drawing a picture of a foetus hiding like Where's Wally to appease my Mum

Grin I can send you a photo you can pass off?

I was just wondering about the scan as I didn't know how pg I was when I found out - if you have any concerns you can see a GP rather than wait for a booking in appt and get them to refer you so that you can ensure you get a scan during the right time period for the nuchal fold tests, if you are concerned.

Oooh, that's a thought! I think I'm between 6-7 weeks but I wasn't really trying so didn't track my periods. This is also because I'm pretty lazy/disorganised.

It's worth thinking about if you want the nuchal folds test. If you Google you'll be able to find some sort of number for the midwife and find out what the procedure is for getting your scan.
