Acupuncture just above the ankle bone on the outside of your leg IYSWIM and also lavander oil rubbed into the same place. I was given both of these at the hospital to bring on my labour! Didn't work but was very nice

pookie81 - please do not waste time and energy trying to get into labour - there is no remedy that is guarnteed to work, especially not at 37 weeks. Raspberyy leaf tea is more likley to give you painful tightenings on top of your SPD. Are you seeing a physio? Have you got a support belt? Are you getting painkillers? Managing your SPD is more useful than exhausing yourself mentally trying to get into labour honestly.

Mears- thanks for the advice! I guess i'm just getting impatient as I am sure ever woman gets at this stage!! Thanks for the reply.

I understand how you are feeling. You really don't have long to go now - what a lovely thought - a new baby............

100Vicki · 01/09/2006 13:07

I was feeling the same way that you were when I was about 39 weeks pg with ds1. I was fed up with heartburn and I was very big so could hardly move!

A friend recommended eating fresh pineapple. I was sceptical but I thought that it was worth a go. I ended up eating half a pineapple on the Wednesday, my waters broke Thursday morning and I gave birth to ds1 Friday morning.

Good luck! !!

Iklboo · 01/09/2006 13:09

Eat a curry then have sex with your bloke wearing a pineapple ring on his willy
Try and hang on the last 3 weeks - your bubba's obviously happy in there. Put your feet up and make your man do everything for you. If he doesn't normally wait on you hand and foot - the shock will probably bring on labour

sophiewd · 01/09/2006 13:57

a friend swears by lavender oil in the bath it brought on labour in both her pregnancies

dodothatvoodoo · 01/09/2006 15:03

hi - don't go the raspberry leaf route, as mears already said, can lead to additional nasties - i didn't take to bringon labour, just to facilitate but think i was given bad advice.

Curry and sex worked for us - we have family joke that DP never late for anything so we weren't takign any chances that DD would go over.

but if you're not due, and if this is offspring one, don't rush to get there. put your feet up, enjoy the peace and quiet, go to the pictures in the middle of the afternoon, get your nails done, get a leg wax - enjoy peeing alone!! these sound like small things, but they are aboutto become major luxouries. Good Luck!

Stefallie · 02/09/2006 14:40

Had a pain during the day 38 weeks pg so had a bath that night and put in laveder bath oil (forgot that it can bring on labour, i know duh!)anyway woke up at 3am next morning with 10 min contractions. Wasn't trying to bring it on though.

Stefallie · 02/09/2006 14:40

sarahsbump · 02/09/2006 15:04

ScaredMummy2be · 17/09/2007 10:29

im so over beibg pregnant lol GET THIS BABY OUT OF ME!!!! PLEASE
any suggestions that actually work
what is castor oil & where can i buy it from?????

Hoonette · 17/09/2007 10:38

Walking, maybe? Isn't there some theory that walking makes the weight of the baby push down on your cervix? I did a lot of walking and was a week early, but of course that could have been co-incidence.

ScaredMummy2be · 17/09/2007 10:44

hey hoonette do u no what castor oil is & where i can get it from

Hoonette · 17/09/2007 10:51

Don't know much about castor oil, sorry. Isn't it a bit like a curry, where the idea is to get your bowels moving so strongly it jump-starts the womb?!

Jbck · 17/09/2007 10:53

Am loving the pineapple ring idea! Even laughing at the sight might help you along.
We did RLT, some stinky oils in burners & baths, walking, curries, constant sex DH thought it was his birthday & Xmas all rolled into one but I ended up induced at 40+10, I think they only come when they are ready & not before.
Of course this time I'll be trying them all again anyway, just in case. . Take heart that you're further on than some people (me, 32 weeks) and you'll see your little bundle soon, have a rest & put your feet up.

dressedupnowheretogo · 17/09/2007 10:53

we had sex the night before my waters broke after not having it for about a fortnight

i had also spent the evening watching pirates of the caribean and jackass so maybe its coz i laffed alot too

my waters strated breaking whilst i was ordering a shoe cabinet in argos

ScaredMummy2be · 17/09/2007 10:53

my boyfriends dad is pakastani he makes a mean curry lol maybe i shgould get him 2 make me 1

miniandme · 17/09/2007 10:55

Right ok at risk of being shot down here,i took castor oil with all 3 of my previous children and labour started within a few hours each time.
It is NOT recommended as it is used as a severe laxative and i mean severe!! so can leave you very dehydrated and having lots of discomfort and pains. In saying that its this that irraitates the uterus and can lead onto contractions.
Its very difficult to find though can be found in small corner shops and some small out of town chemists.
I realise im probably gonna get jumped on for this post but hey ho if it was me ,and it had been me i done it ,am having twins and if it gets to THAT stage i will do it this time too

ScaredMummy2be · 17/09/2007 11:09

im not gonna shoot u down at all miniandme i wanna try castor oil but i have no idea what it is...
i went 2 woolworths 2day (local store)
and the girl working there told me castor oil is for a car is that true?
what about nipple stimulation have u tried that if so does it work

miniandme · 17/09/2007 17:06

lol CASTROL oil is for a car lol not castor !!!
Go onto ebay and search for it ,thats where i got mine, have some stashed away upstairs for this time round, just in case. Its not expensive and shoudlnt take long to arrive.

lulumama · 17/09/2007 17:07

please do not try castor oil

it can give you terrible runs, and can leave you labouring on the loo and / or in terrible pain with cramps, and dehydrated

baby will come when they are ready

sex and nipple stim can help, or just waiting.

lulumama · 17/09/2007 17:08

also reputable chemists will not sell castor oil to heavily pregnant women, so that should tell you soemthing

if you are desperate, ask for a sweep from your MW at 41 weeks
