Diarrhoea in third trimester

I am 33 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing diarrhoea for the past 6 days. Is this a normal thing during pregnancy for some people or should I see my GP?

Hello Ang, I suffered from diarrhoea during my pregnancy, but I do have mild IBS so nothing too uncommon for me. In my opinion, 6 days is a long time to have diarrhoea for especially whilst pregnant. The weather is also on the warm side too. I would defo being going to see my GP sooner rather than later as you may need something to replace what you have been losing. Make sure you drink plenty of water to avoid being dehydrated. Good luck!

I doubt it's the start of labour if it's been going on that long and, from what I've read, it's pretty common in the third trimester, but as Beingamummy says, 6 days is quite a long time. How bad is it? You don't have to tell me that necessarily lol, but think to yourself: could you be dehydrating or are you just having a few more loose-ish bowel motions than you normally would? Are you vomiting too?

I'd pop along to the dr. Pregnancy does all kind of strange things to bowels - but to have diarrhoea for more than a couple of days could mean that you need to replace what your body is losing. Or call your midwife for advice?

I'm the same as beingamummy, I've got IBS but would agree that 6 days is still a long time. No harm in checking with your doc or midwife to check you're hydrated enough and it's not a nasty bug. Hope you're feeling better soon.
