so tired is this normal

just that really. 9 weeks pregnant and so tired i can't work full day at work. having to take late time off sick. completely exhausted. almost falling asleep at the wheel on my way home. should i be worried

It is normal to be tired but have they checked your iron levels?

Just think how busy your body is making a baby!

I was in bed at about 8.30pm for most of the first trimester. Normally bedtime is about 11-12 but i was so tired. So yes...i dont think it's unusual. Just do what your body tells u.

This is normal. Try and sleep when you get home. Make life easy for yourself. Microwave dinners all the way if you need to. Be good to yourself

I found I felt better from 13 weeks and especially once I went on iron.

Yes it's normal. Not just being tired and wanting to sleep all the time, but you can also be physically tired. Walking up stairs can be a real undertaking.

The midwife should check your iron levels as part of the book in appointment between 8 and 10 weeks, so if its low they will let you know.

Yep totally normal. With my first I would actually fall asleep on the train home - I'd always have to set my alarm as a few times I ended up at the end of a very long line
Also would have to sleep during my lunch break or I wouldn't function. It should ease off as you enter the 2nd trimester. I'm now 31 weeks and have come on here to post the same question but at the other end of pregnancy - feel like death lol

I'm the same, now 20 weeks and it has got a bit better but I'm still in bed by 8.30 each night! Be good to yourself and just get lots of rest whenever you can. Your body is very busy! I found that drinking a lucozade isotonic drink in the avo lifted me a bit. Was recommended to me by the midwife so totally fine too! X

Seems totally normal to me - I have been seriously flagging at my desk in the afternoons, getting home at 5.30 and going straight to sleep for at least an hour, then from about 10pm straight through like a stone until 7.30.

Someone on another thread said something like if they hadn't known they were pregnant, the tiredness combined with ms would have meant they thought they were dying. I thought it was quite an accurate description!!

Totally normal! I'm 25 weeks now and have felt like this the whole way through. I'm in bed by about 8.30 most nights, before my 6 year old! And my iron levels have always been good so I dread to think what I would have been like if I had poor iron!

Rest when you can, your growing another person, your bound to be tired x

Week 9 was the worst for me for everything. Did a lot of crying and whimpering (and to be honest, regretting it) between weeks 9 and 10/11.

Suddenly at 11+3 it all switched off and I felt fine (still more tired, but not like death), again. Am now 22 weeks, and feel almost myself.

Hang in there.

Agreed, I am at home 3 days a week with toddler DS, and on those days I went for a sleep every afternoon while he napped, and was still in bed by 9pm every night! I'm 20 weeks now & feel fine, morning sickness ended and 14 weeks but actually the tiredness had mostly gone by 12 weeks. Hang on in there, it does get easier.

I was soooooo tired in the first trimester. Good antenatal vitamins helped, so did lots of water, lots of food and obviously naps. Hang in there, things get much better in the second trimester! And congrats on your pregnancy

I think it is, in my first trimester I was in bed and fast asleep by 10pm. Woke up bright and refreshed at 8am, got ready for work by 10am and then had a 2 and a half hour nap until I had to get lunch and go for work. Even then the naps weren't long enough! And when I had to be in work any earlier as soon as I got home I went for a nap.

I don't know how people cope with the tiredness of pregnancy when they have young children/full time jobs to go to, I'd have crumbled

I feel exactly the same. I'm 8+4 and have to nap when DS does all day long, luckily (or not, depending on how you look at it) he's only 8mo so still has a few naps.

Yes, normal. should improve in the second trimester.

I'm 28 wks now and I found the first 12 weeks the worst. Didn't have really bad m/s but was just so tired and emotional. I was over the moon to be pregnant and couldn't work out why I felt so down. But it really did pass for me at about 12 weeks. I'm in the third trimester now and still feel more energetic than I did then!

Oh God yes, first trimester is awful, a whole new tired you didn't even know existed. It will pass though. Second trimester you'll feel completely normal (probably) it's definitely the best bit. Then at the third tired is back and you can add to that a whole world of crap I won't scare you with just now. At this point hours of agony seem like a really good idea and I cannot wait
