First pregnancy and so many questions...

I have just found out I am pregnant and as the title suggests have loads of questions!! My first BFP was 9 days after dtd. (We only did it once this cycle). Is this quite an early BFP? Is it true that chances of multiples increase after coming off the implant? My symptoms are already quite bad...sickness and nausea all day and bloated like you wouldn't believe. I also have weird pains...not awful pains more like twinges that are quite deep and achey. These have been the case since my 6 days post dtd.

I'm also petrified of going to the toilet. I am praying and hoping the baby sticks but....I'm so scared. Looking at dates and things, I am 3+6, so very very early...just after some reassurance I guess that the aches, bloating, twinges and niggles are normal?

As they say "pregnant until proven otherwise " so unless you've had lots of blood (and maybe not even then!) then you're more likely than not going to be fine.
Congratulations. Sit back and stay distracted for a good few weeks and stay off Google.
In case you didn't know your doctor will just take your word for the pregnancy so no need to rush down. Oh and start folic acid. Stay hydrated and keep snacking. Get your other half to wait on you hand and foot if at all possible.

Thank you. It still hasn't sunk in that I'm going to be a mum....I'm planning on telling DP and DPIL on Monday...I hope this isn't too early. We would want their support if things went wrong though.
I have started my folic acid, so will carry on with that...Google is my worst enemy at the moment. I keep reading things and seeing things which are making me worry too!

I would tell DP only for a week or two at least. It's a very exciting secret to have just between the two of you. Step away from Google and go stock up on fruit juice and nice food!

Id say 9dpo is a bit early for a bfp but incredibly early for such specific symptoms.

How was your period the month prior? Morning sickness usually starts around the seven week mark, along with the bloating, so id think back incase you mught have fallen pg last cycle and your last period was infact an implantation bleed.

Everything you are experiencing is normal. As OP said, relax and let hubby do everything for a while. I can't say much, as when I found out at 5 weeks-ish, I'd done 4 awful weeks at work and been to Prague and back (did/ate so much I shouldn't have)

One thing I did when I got BFP, was to compile a list of emergency phone numbers. It was things like EPU (early pregnancy unit) and work phone numbers for family who knew.

I had to tell my employers as soon as I found out due to the nature of my job, but not everyone needs to do that until much later. If you do a lot of heavy lifting or use any dangerous chemicals, it's advisable to let them know as soon as you feel comfortable.

OK, thank you. If I caught on my previous cycle I would be 7+5 which seems to fit more with my symptoms. Should I phone my GP back and say that now I'm unsure of the date? Originally I had said when I had first calculated it to be.

Yes phone GP. If you are further ahead than you thought they may send you for an early scan to check dates. This is because to have the combined nuchal test it needs to be done between 12-14 weeks.

I had symptoms before my bfp at 4 weeks too it is possible! Sore boobs at about 3+ 2 onwards then heart burn about 3 + 5 for about a week which made me feel and be sick. Really morning sickness kicked in at about 5 weeks for me.

I'll cross my fingers for a sticky bean for you!

alita7 · 21/05/2014 20:44

to give you a better idea of dates could you try a clear blue with dates indicator. If it says 1- 2 weeks then you're probably 3- 4 weeks as you thought. If it says 2-3 then maybe you ovulated late last cycle or where you would think was early this cycle and if it says 3 + you may be a month ahead like people are suggesting?

ooh good idea about the dating pregnancy test...think I'll give GP a ring in the morning too :)
