Hey all...

I'm currently 5 weeks pregnant after a m/c at 8 weeks. I am planning on having a private scan at 7 weeks, more for reassurance than anything else.. the problem is I dont know whether the 7 weeks is counted from first day of last A/F or from conception. The last thing I want is to go for scan and be told that its too early to detect a heartbeat cos then I will worry...IYKWIM? Many thanks

Hi all - loving reading this and dying to have a 7 or 8 week scan. The thing is I went to my GP at 4 weeks and she said not to bother coming back to her until 11 weeks and she would then refer me to midwife at that point. She said no point refering me yet as I could have a miscarriage as I was so early (pretty brutal I thought). Anyway 11 weeks seems a long way away with noone to care about my pregnancy. Did you all go private to get this care? Or should I push to see a midwife earlier on the NHS? Thanks

Unless you have had a previous miscarriage or are having symptoms of current MC, it is highly unlikely you will get a 7 week scan on the NHS. I got one at 7 and 9 wks due to 2 MCs. So, probably better to have it done privately.

You won't gain anything by seeing a MW sooner than 8-10 weeks though I am surprised you will only be referred at 11 weeks. It could take 2/3 weeks to process the referral request.
