Think I'm having a miscarriage

On Saturday morning after having sex there was a little blood. I now am still bleeding and have the most intense cramping. I have a scan today and not feeling very good about it. My pregnancy symptoms have stopped.
If it is the case I feel like I've let people down, which I know is stupid. I am 40 and 8+4 weeks, first pregnancy. Wil be a miracle if I'm still pregnant.!

I'm so sorry to read this. I miscarried last march on my birthday with what would have been my 2nd child. At the same kind of gestation. I know how heartbreaking it is, I really hope you're not miscarrying but sending you lots of love.

Just to say I went on to have a successful pregnancy 6 weeks after my miscarriage. I'm 36. Wishing you well.

Louise - I hope your scan goes well. I've had 3 miscarriages and the not knowing but dreading stage is very hard. I had a doctor 'promise me' everything was ok as she didn't want to send me for a scan and I clung to that despite 'knowing' something was wrong.

I'm sure (I hope) you know really you haven't let anyone down. Please be kind to yourself.

I'm pregnant now but dashed to the hospital at 8 weeks as all symptoms had gone, I had cramps and I was convinced - utterly convinced it had all gone wrong again. I had a scan and everything worked out this time. It can happen. I really hope it works out for you Flowers

Thank you. I am hoping. Everything pointing to the negative but I guess you just never know.

Hi Louise

I am going for a scan this morning, as I am 5+3 today and have been bleeding and had severe to very painful cramping. Its just like my period which is very very painful, as I have endometriosis (although, when I found out I was pregnant, I thought id be free of that for a while Sad )

I really feel for you the worry is awful isn't it? This is also my first pregnancy. If its ok to ask Is your bleeding very heavy and did it start off lighter like spotting?

I get what you mean about everything pointing to the negative, I am usually such a positive person but in the middle of the pain I just cant help thinking it looks like bad news.

Really hoping for posotive news for you and keeping my fingers crossed xxxx

Hi it started on Saturday morning, very faint just when I wiped. Sunday it was basically gone until the evening then it just got heavier. I didn't really need a sanitary towel until Monday but still mainly when I wiped. The pains started on Monday, the pad is now like having a proper period with drops also in the toilet. Been up since 3am with the pain. Lots of blood just now as I went to the toilet. I hope everything goes ok for you xx

Good luck with the scan. Everything crossed for you x

Mama1980 · 21/05/2014 07:58

fingers crossed for good news x

ruthsmumkath · 21/05/2014 08:06

Fingers crossed all is well. I had heavy bleeding in this pregnancy (now 38 weeks) following exercise - fingers crossed you have burst a blood vessel in your cervix like I did - the cervix is very sensitive in pregnancy. This can bleed a lot but baby is still fine.

I don't want to give false hope - but don't want you to be overly pessimistic.

I am in my early 40's and I had the second of my 3 mc at 40, the third at 41. I do know now that bleeding is not necessarily the end though - and dtd/exercise etc are all common reasons for causing bleeds.

Fingers crossed you will see a lovely little baby with a heartbeat.

Thinking of you
Kath

Fingers crossed for your scan later x

impatientlywaiting14 · 21/05/2014 08:41

Ok the reason I ask is I have read of this happening to others due to a softening of the cervix, i think its called cervical erosion. Generally its just some spotting which is as far as it goes. Yours sounds different to this. Im no doctor though.

Im just keeping my fingers crossed that there is a reasonable explanation for it, i really hope the pain goes and you get the answers you need at your scan xxxx

Hello well I had my scan and yes I am having a miscarriage. The baby has yet to pass. I got to see it on the screen. Just a waiting game now. I got pregnant very quickly so will try again when this has all cleared up.
Both very sad about the whole thing.

Very sorry to hear it wasn't good news, louise - please take care of yourself. I had an early MC with my first pregnancy when I was 40 - utterly grief stricken as thought I would never get pregnant again but 6 months later I did, and DD is now a toddler.

Please have hope for the future, but also focus on looking after yourself and getting through this difficult and sad time x

Dizzywhore · 21/05/2014 12:37

So sorry to read your sad news. X

ruthsmumkath · 21/05/2014 13:04

So sorry to hear your news. Big hugs and good luck!

Hope that things go smoothly and you feel ready to try again very soon
