HI
I am 5+2 today. I got my BFP with a digital test on 7th May. I tested about 3 days before my period was due, as i had loads of pregnancy symptoms. I was wary of a chemical so I took another test on the 9th. I waited until the 13th May before taking a Clearblue which said i was 2-3 weeks then booked a doctors appointment.

I have had shoulder pain/ache on and off since around the 8th of May. I have been sleeping on my side as partner is worried about me sleeping on my belly (which is my usual sleeping position) so i put it down to that especially as its the same side im sleeping on, and i didn't have any other symptoms: bleeding cramps ect.

Yesterday at 5+1 I had mild cramps in the morning which passed and returned in the afternoon. The cramps progressed and become quite uncomfortable. Im have been trying to avoid taking paracetamol so I went to lay down for a bit late afternoon/early evening and felt better when i woke up in the evening. However around half hour after i woke up i started to bleed. It was like a period and the cramps became worse so i called my local EPU. They advised for me to go to A&E.

A&E were not much help in giving me information, other than i could just be bleeding, having an ectopic pregnancy or miscarrying. They have arranged a scan for tomorrow morning.

I am still bleeding. Its just like my period bleed and has been steady since yesterday, although i think its slowed slightly now. After i got home from the hospital i noticed a few very small clots and today more clots that were a little bigger. Also earlier today the blood turned from dark red to bright red.

The pain has progressed from yesterday evening and is now in my back as well as my abdomen, although since around 2pm the pain has been easing up then getting worse again. I have a long history of suffering with endometriosis. The pain today at its worst is very very painful and very much like the painful periods i have suffered with the Endo. The pain is worrying me more than the bleeding. I am also getting hip and shoulder ache on and off.

Also I have had trouble weeing the past day or so. Im sorry if the next bit is T.M.I but i have noticed today my stool is off colour. I have seen the doc this evening, who has advised me just to rest, drink fluids and generally look after myself. She has also given me some paracetamol based co-codamol in a lower dose which is still safe to take to help with the pain. She didn't want to speculate on what it could be or couldn't be and said to just wait for my scan and try to relax in the meantime,

I am trying to stay positive, but cant help thinking it doesn't look good. Has anyone else had this and gone on to have a safe pregnancy and baby? This is not bleeding as in some spotting or just when i wipe. Please help :(

I don't have any personal experience of heavy bleeding but 2 of my friend now have university age children (they told me about this as I had a small bleed at 4 weeks and was distraught). I hope your scan brings you good news tomorrow x

I can't help really but didn't want to read and run. People do report healthy pregnancies after bleeding so I do hope your scan brings you good news.
I had a scan yesterday after spotting (I'm 7w) and the epu staff were amazing.
Look after yourself x

Hi Poasaddict its good to know about your friends children and that things turned out, well I hope everything went ok for you too?

Chesirem2b I hope your scan went ok for you, im sure all is ok.

I am still bleeding today, The co-codamol doesn't seem to be working as well as ibuprofen (which of course I know i cant take). I am still in pain, its is a little better today so that's something. That's how my periods used to be, worse on the first day, gets a little better on the 2nd and starts to ease up after a few days.

I think either I am one of the unfortunate few that still have periods while pregnant as my Nan did. Or its a chemical and this is my period picking up where it left off.

Thank-you for your kind replys xx

Its sad news Im afraid there was no sign of the baby my uterus was completely empty. The lady performing the scan thinks it may have been a miscarriage as she said im bleeding quite a lot. They have taken bloods to rule out an ectopic pregnancy although they are not concerned. I need to go back on friday xx
