Yes. Presumably it's got wheels on it and isn't some massive industrial thing that weighs a couple of tons? :)

SweepTheHalls · 20/05/2014 09:43

Why wouldn't it be? Confused

UriGeller · 20/05/2014 09:43

Yeah but I'd be trying to get out of it. Grin

seepthehalls i know certain lifting isnt recommended and my midwife advised me not to push a trolley due to spd etc but i cant not vacuum but i have been paranoid about harming the baby (sorry if i sound neurotic i am not i promise!!)

Is it your first?

Once you have a toddler to lift or a pushchair to push the midwives tend to stop giving out that sort of advice as its a bit unrealistic.

I had godawful SPD so I know how much it hurts but it basically hurts if you do lift, or if you don't so just carry on as normal.

moomin35 · 20/05/2014 10:17

Yep it's my first. Yep logic was kinda telling me that but I wanted to check. GrinI whipped the vaccuum round 2 rooms but I am now in agony!! Hmm

I think the correct answer is to tell your partner/friends/family that you can do absolutely no cooking, cleaning etc for the next 6 months and they all have to help!
Of course that is a complete lie!

The physio at the appointment for my SPD said that vacuuming is especially bad because of the repetitive nature and positioning that stresses one side of your body more than the other. So that was one of the chores she suggested should be done by someone else if at all possible.

eurochick · 20/05/2014 10:21

Lifting is unlikely to do anything to the baby. But it might to you ! (Due to looser ligaments.)

ikeaismylocal · 20/05/2014 11:19

Ofcourse it's safe! Might get the baby to come out!

I have never heard of not pushing trolleys, what are mums with chunky toddlers supposed to do?

thereisnoeleventeen · 20/05/2014 13:30

It's all about the speed of the activity at 38 weeks imo. I hoover until the end, it's more of a potter than a 'whip round' though...possibly with a sit down between rooms!

moomin35 · 20/05/2014 15:32

thanks all, i will relax about it now! Smile

Yes, it is safe but much much safer for my DH to just do it for me Grin I find the stairs a pain in the ass too

RAFWife12 · 20/05/2014 19:45

I've just been told by the physio to stop doing all housework and shopping! That's because of my worsening pelvic pain/SPD though. Otherwise I would say it's safe!
