I am pregnant with twins and being induced on Wednesday when I will be 37 weeks.

I know a bit about the process but just wanted to know what other peoples experiences were with induction, how long it took etc.

I got induced with my first (not twins and at 40+2) also on a Wednesday and they started with the gel. Nothing just a little cramping, then Thursday same thing, but cramps where more intense but still no regular contraction and cervix closed, Friday they tried a different induction not gel, stayed in the hospital and by Saturday lunch they decided to put me on the drip. But what I didn't know that i was in early labour all night and morning so they didnt put me on the drip and waited by 4 pm my water broke and I had DS at 12:10 am Sunday morning..

Good luck. And congrats to having twins

I was 40 +12 with our pfb and was booked in to be induced. That morning he started to come on his own.

Got there at 8 am. The pessary didn't do much. Actually I think my waters were broken and that didn't do much either. At about 9pm I was put on the drip and then I dilated very fast and by 11.15pm I had given birth. You are meant to dilate 1cm an hour on the drip so it should have taken all night.

I don't think it is common for things to go quickly like that. It was fine though. It is a bit intense but I think it was because I was dilating quickly.

I would say I had a good experience. (Apart from it being a bit of a shock to give birth quickly, there was no time to talk about birth preferences).

I was induced at 39 weeks because of complications. (Intrauterine Growth restriction)

Good luck. I hope you have a good experience.

I was induced with my DS as I had developed pre eclampsia, also on a Wednesday! I had the pessary at 9pm, by the following evening it hadn't done a thing. I then had the gel, at 7am te next day they broke my waters and put me on a drip immediately. By 1.30pm nothing was really happening for me. After a few complications I ended up with an emergency section. His head had never even engaged so I'm pretty sure I would have been there forever if it wasn't for the section!! And at 9lb 4oz I'm glad he came out of the sunroof! Wink
