So confused. Went for first scan last week showing an empty sac. The doctor is telling me I'm miscarrying. Went in today for final scan and to talk options of passing the sac but an embryo has appeared? Very puzzled. Doctor now diagnosing an inconclusive miscarriage and I have to wait another week for next scan to see what's happening. Mw telling me I'll prob miscarry.
Anybody familiar with this happening? Any happy endings?
Xx feeling hopeful but prob shouldn't be

Hi, I've had something similar. At my 13 week scan the consultant showed me a sac and said he was very sorry but it appeared that the embryo had stopped growing just after my last scan (6 weeks). My Dh and I were obviously upset and the consultant looked rather uncomfortable as if he wasn't sure what to say and he carried on scanning, goodness knows why (it was an internal scan), while the midwife explained that she would give us leaflets about miscarriage and our options. Suddenly he said "wait, I've found something", and there was my DS2, hidden away, quite a distance from the first sac. Turns out it was a twin pregnancy, but the embryo on the initial scan didn't grow and the other was not seen. DS2 is now 6.

Is it possible that the empty sac and embryo are different sacs? I hope that it all works out well for you x
