No didnt give me a due date and midwife will ring me back in about 15 mins so will she what she says. Its all just very odd i dont understand how at 4 weeks baby has got a heartbeat. Its just very bizarre and im worried ill have a miscarrige as baby is so small ( only 2mm )

How did they find out you had PCOS? I thought you couldn't just find out based on a scan and had to have bloods done too...?

When I went for an early scan there was a cyst in one of my ovaries, but it had disappeared by the time i had 12 week scan...

Metalhead · 16/05/2014 18:29

That's very bizarre OP, I hope you get some answers from the midwife.

Unfortunately from my personal experience, if you're certain of your dates and baby is measuring significantly behind (over a week) then that's not a good sign. Fx for you.

Shazam24 · 16/05/2014 18:47

Spoke to midwife & she said a heartbeat at 4 weeks is normal. But everything ive read says different.

I had a normal ultraspund where she thought she could detect a heartbeat but wasnt sure so i had an internal where she found a heartbeat and said it was measuring 4 weeks at 2mm but had a good heartbeat.

I asked how it could be 4 weeks when my life af was 7 weeks ago and she asked if i had irregular periods. I said somtimes their rwgular for a few months, then thwir irregular for a few monthd and she said she was just going to check my ovaries. My left ovarie was fine and she said i had pcos in my right & it had cysts and fibroids.

Midwife didnt really make me feel.any better and now from reading up about pcos ive just upset myself even more. According to the NHS website theres a link.between pcos and miscarrige but they dont know exactly what it is.

Ive had two miscarriges before at 5 1/2 weeks so when i thought i was 7.3 weeks i was feeling a bit more positive knowing i was past my other dayd and now im just waiting for blood. Im absolutely gutted i really thought id get my baby this time and now its very unlikely to stay.

I have PCOS. the only problem I have really had from it was struggling to concieve in the first place(currently 24+6) you need to ask your GP for blood tests to confirm you have it. I was told qhwn having a scan at fertility clinic that ovaries are not covered in cysts as the name would suggest with PCOS. it is not the end of the world. I was diagnosed at 13 and google has not been my friend in that time, there is souch inaccurate info on the net. xx

Geminiwitch22 · 16/05/2014 19:52

Pcos sufferer 34 weeks tommorow, think positive! Worst thing you can do is read stuff up on net most of the time trust me. Heartbeat good, also it could b next scan you give you a different date again

bakingtins · 16/05/2014 20:01

Could this just be difference in terminology/lost in translation? Usually quoted dates from LMP, could they be using weeks from actual conception?
I had weekly scans this pregnancy, was told the earliest they expect to see anything at all is 5 weeks ( sac and yolk only) from 6 weeks foetal pole growing at 1mm per day, HB from somewhere round the 6 week mark, should be present by 7 weeks.
You definitely do not see a heartbeat at 4 weeks, 2mm foetal pole with a visible HB sounds like about 6 weeks pregnant (measured from LMP) which if you actually ovulated a bit late could well be correct, and you got your BFP at 4 weeks which also sounds plausible.

alita7 · 16/05/2014 21:10

Check they didn't mean 4 weeks since conception, that would only put you a week behind and it would make sense that you had a 2 mm baby with a heart beat as that would be 6 weeks since your last period! they can't even see anything at 4 weeks so they must be mixing things up!

Shazam24 · 16/05/2014 22:19

Ahh that makes so much sense!! I was saying to my partner its just not right, i couldnt of got such a strong positive at just 2 weeks pregnant.

Makes so much sense that i must of just ovulated a bit later than expected and yes they must of done dates from conception and not my last period.

Thank you so much, ive been devastated since i had scan thinking i woukd miscarry again.but i mist be 6 weeks and since baby has a fast heartbeat its actually good news. I panicked i think. Thank you so much ladies i feel so much better x

I have pcos and I was measuring small with this pregnancy I was 2 weeks behind my thought due date I know when I did the deed, he must have super sperm if they are sugesting that date and I'm nearly 26 weeks pregnant, she's tiny compared to my ds I'm 2 weeks behind by measurements but she's ok little fighter!

kumair · 18/05/2014 17:31

Hey guys. M 7th week pregnant. But my doctor said that she cant measure the heart beat of my baby in ultrasound. Its my first time. I am realy worried about this she had an ultra sound from my vagina n she said that she noticed a lil bit of bleeding inside too. But i didnt get any blood appearntly.. please help me and guide me. Is this something to worry about??

Missteacake · 21/05/2014 14:16

Hi I had a scan at six weeks and the sonographer said it looked more like five weeks but there was a heartbeat and it measured 2mm. At my twelve week scan I was 12 + 3 so actually due date one day before I thought. Whenever they date from scans there is a margin for error ( numerous threads confirm it would have had to have been emaculate conception to line up with scan dates!) you may find your little bean has caught up growth wise like mine did by the time you have a twelve week scan. I also have PCOS diagnosed from scan but my blood work shows I am asystamatic so you can have PCOS but have no symptoms and be ovulating normally and secreting normal amounts of hormone. Good luck

Thnx missteacake
