Hello all.
I am currently 5 weeks and 5 days pregnant with my first. Only symptoms ive had has been extreme thirst (I absolutely have to keep a water bottle with me at all times), heartburn after eating, My breasts have grown, and Very very dry skin.
Well earlier I had some burning while using the restroom and knew it could be dangerous for the baby so I went to urgent care and they prescribed some antibiotics. I took my first dose and a little less than a hour later I had one cramp and went to the bathroom to wipe and saw 3 or 4 tiny spots of blood. Not brown but red/deep pink. Haven't seen any since then but im very paranoid right now :( anyone experienced this or have any advice? Thank you all!

If you have a UTI is it poss that the pink is fr your urethra/urine rather than your vagina? I have often had 'pink wee' with cystitis.

Thanks for your response! Im not sure this is also my first uti in a very long time so its most likely due to the pregnancy. But it was definitely more deep pink/bright red.. praying it isnt a very bad sign.

I get little tiny 'clots' of red blood in my wee when I have cystitis. NExt time you wee, wee into a pot of some sort and see if there are any bits of blood floating, or what colour your wee is. Should help clarify things.

You were probably prescribed a penicillin type AB, which wouldn't have an effect on the baby. They work by stopping the reproduction of the infecting bacteria and effectively causing it to go extinct, which stops the infection. They target specific bacteria, and as your baby is tucked safely away inside its little sleeping bag it has had no exposure to the infection and is safe from the ABs having any effect Smile

I have also had a UTI and finished my course of ABs two days ago - I had a little pinkish colouring when I wiped before the ABs kicked in, so it could just be the treatment helping to flush out some infection. I was prescribed Amoxicillin, but all penicillin-type ABs you are likely to have been prescribed for a UTI are safe in pregnancy.

However, if you're unsure, it's always best to get checked out. The peace of mind will help you feel better faster, so it's definitely worth doing if you're at all anxious Smile

Thanks :) that helps. The cramp I had gotten before the spotting is what worries me the most. I havent had any bleeding since I last updated nor any cramping. It was literally just one cramp then I checked and got the 3-4 spots on my tp. Will probably ask for an early ultrasound just because I'd rather know before I start to travel today... but is it normal to just not feel pregnant or not have many symptoms? I'm only thirsty most of the time.

My last UTI I had horrible cramps and spots of blood when I wiped, but I wasn't pregnant then so it was definitely urethral. Don't panic, it's quite normal :)

Its just hard not to esp since I havent spotted at all since I found out I was pregnant just the occasional dull cramp.
