Hi everyone,

I have an early internal scan booked for tomorrow at 5+2 due to cramps and a tiny tiny drop of blood on Saturday (no more since)

I have no idea what to expect! I'm really nervous and dreading it!!

Have any of you had scans at 5+2? What were your experiences?

Thank yoy

Hi lollzy I had the 'dildocam' around this gestation and it was fine - it was uncomfortable but no more so than a smear - in fact in my case I'd say less uncomfortable than a smear.

It is quite scary as at such an early gestation you probably won't be able to make out what is what until the sonographer explains it. I was convinced I'd m/c and then she said no - there's your baby with a heartbeat! Once she'd pointed it out it was clear.

Just try and relax - and good luck.

Hi there,

I'm surprised they are doing a scan before 6 weeks. There is usually not much to see at that stage, so try not to worry if there is not much on the screen. The heartbeat doesn't usually start until just before 6 weeks, so all you would expect would be a sac and yolk sac.

The dildocam is fine.

I had one at the same point for the same reasons. They could see a yolk sac and that was it and asked me to come back in two weeks at which point we saw a little bean and a heartbeat. 15+1 now and things all looking good. You'll be fine but don't be disheartened if you don't see very much, it's still very early. Xx

Thank you for all your replies!

After an early miscarriage a couple of months ago I'm terrified and I've convinced myself something is wrong. I feel sick with nerves!

Hopefully it will all be ok! I'm not expecting to see a heartbeat yet as I know it's early! Xxx
