Cause for concern? The sonographer didn't seem worried and the heartbeat was fine. Had an early scan as I had some spotting, at what I thought was 7+2. Baby is measuring at 6+3 though. I wasn't too worried at the time but feeling a little concerned now. Is it common at this stage for measurements to be out? I'm 100% sure of my dates.

Hi Smile

I don't think scans that early are very accurate, when I went for mine they put me at nearly a week behind what I know I am but they said scans this early can't be 100% accurate and were pretty certain my dates would change by 12 week scan Smile

And congratulations! Grin

You could easily be 3-4 days out on the date even if you only DTD once that month because the sperm can hang around for days before the egg comes out to meet it. I thought I pretty much knew my dates as it was the latest time we'd DTD and I had had ovulation pain 8 hours after but I was 4 days out. Same with first baby.

As tinkerbell says, the sperm and egg can swim about a bit before they meet, then the bundle of cells can swim about for a few more days before implanting! So 2 couples could DTD on the same day and they pregnancy be dated 6 days apart, quite feasibly. :)

For this pregnancy and my last, the early scans measured earlier than I thought but it all balanced itself out by the time of my 12 week scan. Early scans are difficult to rely on in terms of sizes as everything is so tiny then and hard to measure accurately, plus the growth rate is so variable at that stage.

Thanks for the reassurance ladies... Going to stay positive now :)

I had a scan at 9 weeks and they measure at 8 weeks. At my 13 week scan they moved my EDD forward by 4 days :-)
