Help! First time on the message board...Doing ALL I can, baby ten days late and counting...According to MW my cervix still has a 'long way to go'. Have had two unsuccessful sweep attempts and desperate not to be induced at 14 days. Any advice??

cumin tea..... a spoonful of cuminseeds in boiling water with a spoon of honey. can drink up to one every hour.

i just had one and was in labour the next morning when i woke up.

head over to aug ante-natal too, theres a few girls there in your situation and once baby finally appears you can join us on the aug post natal.... good luck!

here you go

Not telling you to do this but I was desperate not to be induced as I was 10 days late with DD1 so downed a bottle of castor oil, mixed with orange juice, went into labour 3 hours later. Did have a bit of a session on the loo but nothing too bad and was happy I did it.

2nd time, baby due 22 Dec. Wanted it to happenb a bit earlier. Did half a bottle of castor oil first thing in the morning and nothing happened so that evening I did the other half. This time I spent a lot more time on the loo this time and it wasn't that nice. Gave myslef a pile! BUT, I did go into labour a few hours later.

I know 4 or so mates thta all did castor oil too and it's always worked.

Not telling you to do this, just sharing.

PinkTulips · 29/08/2006 16:55

about the castor oil, was going to do it too but heard it can make you vomit alot too, not good during labour. one of the girls on my ante natal thread tried it and got the runs but no baby!

Tinker · 29/08/2006 16:57

My mum did the castor oil thing. Made her very ill.

Thomcat · 29/08/2006 16:58

Well no-one I know threw up.
All had to have a poo but nothing horrific and always a baby at the end of it.
Worked twice for me and everyone I know whose done it.
You have to be overdue and have tried everything else though I reckon.

Astrophe · 29/08/2006 17:07

try nipple massage..worked for both of mine (8 days over and 4 days over)...or did they just come in their own time???

Goggle it and see what you think though, its one of the few things you can do that have ant scientific basis.

Good luck...just think, you WILL have a baby in 4 days, if not sooner!

Astrophe · 29/08/2006 17:08

sorry...google it

Scoobydooooo · 29/08/2006 17:12

I also did the caster oil thing with ds (my 1st)i was 10 days late, i done it in the afternoon about 1pm & woke up & 4am in the monring with contractions & a show, yes i sat on the toilet for 30 mins but to be honest i was glad to have got all the poo out of me so i would not need a poo for at least a week after birth i was not sick from it though.

I would have done it with dd is well but i went into labour on my due date so no need.

BUT i am not advising you to do it as TC said i am just sharing how i went into labour & probably showing how desperate i was, i was sooooo determined not to be induced because my friend had shared her horror story with me.

lilmamma · 29/08/2006 17:24

I dont really think anything works, the baby will come when its ready,i did try a hot curry but nothing happend,I was 2weeks late with first two 3 weeks with 3rd and 4th i was told they would leave me 10 days then induce,on the morning i went myself, think i frightend myself into starting,so maybe you might do the same..goodluck..

Scoobydooooo · 29/08/2006 17:25

The midwife said that SEX is ment to work not that it is something you feel like doing at this stage

MrsApronstrings · 29/08/2006 17:42

clary sage is meant to stimulate and speed labour - it has warnings on it not to use before term - I used it in massage oil - but like th castor oil thing am not sure you're meant to

PinkTulips · 29/08/2006 17:54

nipple stimulation works better at intensifying contractions tbh, tried it loads to bring on labour and nothing but when my contractions 10/15 mins apart and about 20 secs long i got them up to 2 mins apart and 1 min long in 15 mins of nipple twiddling. they slowed down a bit again when i stopped but was able to keep them going by doing it every hour or so so that when i went into hospital after 14 hours i was 3cm and they broke my waters for me... had ds hours later

PinkTulips · 29/08/2006 17:55

that should be 3 hours later

kpmumtobe · 29/08/2006 18:31

thank you so much. have tried the nipple thing and only result was colustrum which freaked us both out!!!!just back from depressing hosp visit and am trying to change induction booked for thurs night, so full of talk of drips and monitors that i burst into tears (and a £50 fine in carpark for my two and a half hour wait for doc). have clary sage and tried inhaling. i know that end result is the thing that really counts will let you know how things turn out!
