Have just had a midwife appointment this morning and she tells me the baby is lying transverse. I am 34 weeks and although there's still time for the baby to move round the right way, I was just wondering if anybody has been in a similar situation. She said if the baby hadn't turned in 2 weeks the hospital would try and turn it. I'm not sure I like the sound of this but would prefer not to have a c-section. Anybody got any tips?

My baby was transverse too - turning the baby was fine - it didnt hurt - they gently manipulate with their hands on your bump... should be done by the obstetrician. I ended up with a section at 37 weeks because my baby was not only transverse but "unstable" and would turn in every direction after the doc turned her!! In the end i was glad for the section. I think they had a bit about this in the "what to expect when you are expecting" book and i'm sure you would find loads on line but that's difficult if you have to wade through anecdotes (like mine!)Best to just phone your midwife for more info - that's what they are there for...good luck! dd was transverse until 36 weeks, and I have no idea if it helped at all but I did spend time on hands and knees watching tv, made sure not to slump on sofa, etc. Good luck!

Thanks both of you. Will try the hands and knees thing in the hope it will work.
