When does morning sickness hit?

Hi all am 5+5 today and not feeling nauseous yet, I read that ms hits at about 6 weeks- is this true for most people? Was it bang on 6 weeks? I guess I just want to know when I might expect it and if I'm ok next week whether I am one of the lucky ones who escapes it (like my mum!) x

I've been pregnant 3 times and I've never had morning sickness. I had loss of appetite when I was pregnant with DD1 and slight nausea at the thought of eating some foods but other than that, nothing!

RobinSparkles · 11/05/2014 12:38

Oops, sorry - to answer your question, I think it varies from person to person. For some it can be around 6 weeks, others before they even know they're pregnant. I know a couple of people who got it at 12 weeks.

Mine started a little before I found out I was pregnant I think it would of been around 6 weeks , I felt very hungry and very sick at the same time and dizzy, it seemed to be the worst for me at 9weeks I am now 10 and mainly get it first thing in the morning or after I have been to sleep I haven't vomited so far just strong nausea

marshmallow2468 · 11/05/2014 12:40

For me it hit the day after I smugly told DH that I'd just put away a massive Indian takeaway with no ill effect, so I must have dodged it! About 7 weeks I think.

eurochick · 11/05/2014 12:41

I thought I'd dodged it. Mine started around 9 weeks and lasted until about 14, but wasn't tooooooooooooooooooooo bad (no throwing up - just nausea that could be kept at bay by mainlining carbs). The worst thing was toothbrushing. I couldn't brush anything apart from the front few teeth for weeks. I went and got a professional clean as soon as I was past that stage!

VJONES1985 · 11/05/2014 12:42

It's most common in first trimester but can happen at any time. Mine lasted from weeks 8-16 but I still sometimes randomly heave for no reason (25 weeks).

weebairn · 11/05/2014 13:30

7-13 weeks first pregnancy
5-14 weeks second pregnancy

Mine hit dead on 6 weeks, halfway through a meal out with people I didn't want to tell yet. Rubbish timing!

Starting being sick once a day at 10 weeks, still going strong now at 17 weeks.

General nausea and all day grogginess, hangover feelings etc lasted until c. 12 weeks. This subsiding coincided with 2 weeks Easter hols so I could do lots of relaxing, destressing and lying around doing nothing and I'm sure this helped!

jerryfudd · 11/05/2014 17:08

Never had any in either pregnancy despite one being with twins.

ThingsThatShine · 11/05/2014 17:13

Had it from about 6 weeks

BitOutOfPractice · 11/05/2014 17:14

I've never had it in 2 pregnancies

PacificDogwood · 11/05/2014 17:17

Never had it - yes, I am a lucky sod Smile

Petal26 · 11/05/2014 17:21

Around 8 weeks both times.

abcdef12345 · 11/05/2014 18:15

I had it from 5 weeks and i'm nearly 13 weeks. Struggling badly with it :-( x

PuppyMummy · 11/05/2014 18:25

no sickness here either, 37 weeks now!

Missingcaffeine · 11/05/2014 18:35

I was 5+3 and then it steadily got worse until week 9, then it became intermittent instead of constant and I had some days without any, and it totally resolved at 14. I never vomitted though, just really nauseous and went off loads of food.

allisgood1 · 11/05/2014 18:37

1st: bang on 6 weeks
2nd: 5 weeks or so
3rd: 9 weeks

LadySybilVimes · 11/05/2014 18:39

I was about 5 weeks both times.

Lolly84 · 11/05/2014 18:43

Only had nausea 7-10 weeks, sometimes felt like I could be sick and sometimes just slight. Never been actually sick!

Polkadotscarf · 12/05/2014 06:54

Mine started with nausea at 8 weeks the. Sickness kicked in at 12 weeks and is still going at 15 weeks!

ChicaMomma · 12/05/2014 09:48

Im 35 weeks and havent had any.. yet.. but i've heard of the odd few who've had it hit them at 36/38 weeks- so you just never know! weeks 6-12 certainly seem to be the most common.. but i know when i was chatting to my friends about it (as i was worried by 8 weeks when i ddint get it) a surprising amount of them never got it either.

Some of them had a theory that if you eat regularly and very well, it might not ever hit. I've a great appetite and never lost it in the early days so was eating really well all day.. so maybe that's why i never got it. i dont know. But i'm glad i never got it- despite it worrying me in the early weeks!
