Any Pregnant ladies who suffer PCOS, long cycles but got their BFP :)

Okay so is there anyone who has PCOS, and long cycles who finally got their BFP....looking for a happy ending :)
I was diagnosed with PCOS after having my DS 4 years ago, i also suffer with underactive thyroid too.
I see my consultant every 6 months and was put on Metformin i am meant to take 500mg 4x a day but ca only manage 2 or 3 at a push as i get stomach cramps & feel sickly.
My cycles are really irregular 32-45 days but this months was even longer!! 55 days really thought i was pregnant..had all the symptoms but af turned up on Wed!!
Anyhow is there any success storys?
How long were your cycles?
Did metformin help you & regulate your periods?
How long did it take to get preg & how did you know when you were ovulating with such long cycles?

I have pcos and for me metformin and low carb (weightloss) did the trick. It really reduced my cycles from 4 months to 5/6 weeks. It was hard on my tummy to begin with but I gradually built up to 3 x500mg per day over three weeks.

I have PCOS but decided against taking any medication for it. In the end, I went with exercise and healthy diet (I went to see a dietician) and slowly, slowly made changes to my lifestyle to lose weight and become healthier. This worked for me and I became pregnant after about a year. I did use little sticks to pee on that told me when I was ovulating and that was the month I became pregnant. Wish my GP had told me about them sooner!!!

My cycles were completely unpredictable and very, very long. I would have maybe 3 periods per year, and then when I managed to lose some weight and get healthier and less stressed too, they started to become every other month or so. Honestly, I had no idea whether or not I would ever become pregnant, but thankfully I did and now really looking forward to welcoming my daughter :-)

Hiya. I was TTC 2 years and diagnosed with PCOS the month we conceived! I didn't realise that my long cycles were down to that, mine were more 29-38 days. The best improvements I saw were when I had acupuncture and greatly cut down on sugar. I was trying everything even though I didn't know what was wrong, but it made sense. I did try to figure out when I ovulated but it made me more stressed than anything, I had a great gp who advised me not to worry too much about it. Just DTD as much as possible through the month... And listen to your body... I swear what actually made it 'work' when it did, is because I was just really horny!!! :-D

I have PCOS but wasn't having any treatment. My cycles weren't that long at 35 days, but I got my bfp on a random double length cycle! My body seemed to just keep going until it managed to ovulate and happily we dtd at the right time. It took 10 months, and I had one MC in that time.
I did have some acupuncture but don't know how much difference it made.

I've no idea how I conceived my two DCs, I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 20, and told it'd be unlikely I'd conceive naturally. We actually started TTC earlier than we would've, because we thought it would take a long time. I have about three periods per year. Must have just been incredible luck because we conceived both DCs within a month. I didn't take metformin, just hadrather a lot of sex

Hello, I have pcos and very irregular periods, many occasions I had a 40 - 55 day cycle, but I did ovulate and that was the the key thing for me to establish at first.

Before we started trying I exercised, ate less unhealthy food, drank less alcohol, did the low gi diet (ish) had 3 sessions of acupuncture and took Angus castus. I charted temps for a year before we started trying and did ov strips so I knew when / if I was ovulating and got good at reading my fertility signs. I read a book by zita west about getting pregnant, which was also helpful.

I fell pregnant by artificial insemination at home first time. Very lucky... There's no doubt about that. It was a massive shock as I felt v prepared that we would have to go for medical treatment in the end. I was devastated when I found out I had Pcos, but it's not always a barrier to fertility for everyone. I'm now 33 weeks and have had a pretty textbook pregnancy so far.

Really wish you all the best, it's a nerve wracking time, and even though there are no guarantees, there's lots of things you can do to prepare to make you feel more in control if it xxx

I don't have PCOS but went from 28 day cycles to 40 day ones oddly and then conceived on a 40 day cycle, I think as long as you do ovulate no matter how long it takes in a cycle and you DTD at the right time to catch it you have as much chance as anyone else.

I'm another who had incredibly long/irregular cycles. My GP thinks it may have had something to with the contraceptive injection. I stopped getting it in March 2012 and didn't have a period for 15 months and the AF would visit every 35-45 days. When I found out I was pregnant back in February, I was totally stunned. It was OH who made me take the HPT as he said my body looked weird and I was sleeping more.

I didn't use any ovulation kits, it was all luck. I'm now 16 weeks and enjoying every minute.

nearlyreadytopop low carb diets is the only thing that works for me too hun. Gonna av to get my ass into gear & get some weight off as iv gained a stone since last year!!! Im also gonna gradually up the dose if i can.

starry wow just goes to show that a healthy lifestyle does make such a difference. Well done you managing to get preg without any medication. Congratulations :)

hannahbanana or should i say Hornylady ;) hahaaa made me chuckle. Yeh i need to cut the sugar down as consultant explained that i am insulin resistant and any sugar i eat automatically storesas fat!! Congrats on your pregnancy hun.

Congrats nerdybird gosh you got preg on a double cycle...how bizarre...your body wasnt giving in until you got preg hun :)

orchidlens thanks so much i too have been reading alot & trying to work out if i am ovulating or not....& when!! I do notice some months the ewcm which is a good sign. Do you always ovulate when you get this?
I am too starting a diet & gona start excercising more as i have been lazy lately. What is angas castas?? Congratulations on your pregnancy not long to go now :)
bumpforme gosh how strange going from a 28 day cycle to 40 & congratulations on getting your bfp on that cycle. Do you know when you ovulated on the 40 day cycle?

mrsmonkeybear awww so chuft for you esp after not having a period for so long. Its weird you say about your OH noticing first my mam says it was my dad who knew she was preg before she did :) xxx

I think I conceived before the metformin had a chance to do anything. I temperature charted (although not very strictly) to give me an idea about ovulation and then used opk sticks from eBay to double check.

hi I've got pcos and I was put on metformin for my other symptoms, so wasn't trying for a baby but when I came back from a summer in Greece (so lots of healthy eating and weight loss) I fell pregnant unexpectedly :)

I have never been diagnosed, but my cycles were always months apart. Closest they ever came was 3 months apart, many a time thay were 9 months apart. Got pregnant as soon as I started trying though, both times so caused no issues. Hopefully will happen for you soon.

I suffer PCOS and I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant 😊 periods were irregular, sometimes could go 6 months without and had been trying TC for over 2 years. I put me finally getting pregnant down to switching to a healthy diet and quitting smoking

PCOS and 5-6wk cycles, I charted my temperature and fell pregnant on the third cycle now 23wks.

Another pcos here , I was 14 months without the period in the last year. Second round on clomid and today is my 17w !
