hi all...

i think i should be 7+1 today...

i had a scan 22/04 (4+6 by my dates) - found nothing.
i had bloods done over 48 hours which doubled from 111 HCG to 232 HCG.
i also had my progesterone come back as 104.7.

i then had a scan 29/04 (5+6 by my dates) - found 2.3mm sac

i then had a scan 06/05 (6+6 by my dates) - found 4.7mm sac (no yolk sac inside)

i have not had any more bloods done.

i know i could just be earlier than i thought, however the sac should have grown 1mm a day, so it should have been 9.3mm... has anyone had any similar experiences? or does anybody have any knowledge on this?

they told me to come back in 2 weeks... anybody ever had this or anything similar? she told me to be open minded but obviously it doesn't look good. i have not had any bleeding at all, and so i think it may be a blighted ovum? any input positive or negative would help as the wait of unknown is driving me a bit nuts....

thanks in advance xx

Hi heartfelt just wanted to offer some moral support. I've been there in limbo waiting for further scans and it's very hard. I have to be honest and say in my case it has not ended well, but you do hear plenty of stories on here where there is a good outcome. Can I ask why you are having early scans? have you had previous losses?

heartfelt · 09/05/2014 11:28

bakingtins i have a lot of problems with cysts etc and was having pains when i found out, so i had an early scan to check for ectopic, which it was not, but the lack of growth has worried me and i am really not getting much input for the medical teams i have seen.... thanks for your honesty, what happened in your case? did it come away naturally? was it a BO?

thanks

I had early scans they put me 2 weeks behind my dates I had crampings and major bleed so had a scan I should have been 7w +1 by my dates they told me no yolk no fetal pole just a sac and dated me at 5w, I had to wait 2 weeks for appointment next one they said it had grown and fetal pole etc I'm now 24 weeks pregnant she's on the small side but she's definitly here! I was told ot wasn't lookin great etc but yep I'm fine!

frankiebuns hi, and thanks for your response...

I have heard of lots of people that have had small sacs but then gone back and it has been fine, just early...

but I have never seen any posts on any forum about people that have a small sac, gone back a week later, and the sac still hasn't grown....
I guess I am just looking for some realistic outcomes as I feel totally lost.

thank you for your response :)

I had an early scan at what I thought 6+4 but they saw something really small and it was dated at 5weeks.
I just knew my days couldn't have been so far behind do I was convinced it was another mmc (2 previous) but 2 weeks later I went back and there was the flicker of a heartbeat.
I was apparently 7 weeks then although by my dates I should have been 9+4 I still don't know what happened really and he was really big.
Good luck for your next scan x

It depends how possible it is that you are currently 10-14 days behind your own dates. Sadly I would say this is unlikely otherwise you would not have known you were pregnant at the time of first scan. However you do hear of early scans being wrong in women with unusually tilted uterus or similar. I would expect bad news but not give up on it entirely yet. It is so hard being in limbo, when it happened to me I knew it was not going to be good as I was fairly certain of when I ovulated so I knew I couldn't have been two weeks out on the dates. It did turn out to be a blighted ovum that time. I hope you have a good outcome. If not, there is lots of support on the miscarriage threads on here.

I agree with baking and kat - expect the worst and hope for the best! I found healthcare professionals to be very unhelpful in this situation, when I had a mmc I measured 2 weeks behind at what should have been an 8 week scan, and all I got was "there's a heartbeat so your dates must be wrong" - even though we only had sex once the month I conceived so it was fairly obvious when it'd happened! Two weeks later it was found the baby had died shortly after the first scan, and I had surgical management a week later.

I really hope this isn't the case for you and you've just got a slow developer in there. The waiting and not knowing is a killer.

thanks both for your responses,
I hope nature takes it's cause and I do not have to have it surgically removed, that would be a lot worse in my eyes... sorry to head about your bad experiences also, my scan is next Friday so will update you then.

thanks again Thanks

I have just done a clear blue digital test and it says 3+ (5+)....
this gives me some hope?
no idea what the HCG boundaries of these are though.
