Hi,

Go back to GP get a prescription for a pessary - I've used them plenty of times in pregnancy with the go ahead from GP.
Advice is not to put it too far up and use it at bed time so it doesn't all fall out!!

Also, don't have sex for 7 days after and if you have been doing so your partner needs to use the cream 3 times a day

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 06/05/2014 21:14

I've had the cream and pessary during my pregnancy.

cookielove · 07/05/2014 08:37

Omg, she wouldn't let me have the pessary, ok I'm going back!!

thrush is very common in pregnancy due to high oestrogen levels. the pessary is safe & the most effective. have had it so many times, i feel for you.

cookielove · 07/05/2014 18:59

It's so cross, if I ask them to take a swap to make sure it's thrush do you think they will? Got am appointment for tomorrow am!

Maybe, yes.
Seems a bit strange! I've had lots of pessarys when I've been pregnant

Giraffeski · 07/05/2014 19:13

Can you send DP to get the pessary over the counter?

cookielove · 07/05/2014 19:19

I think she was a new dr so wasn't to confident, but hey ho we live and learn. Dh is out!

How far along are you? Is the itching definitely vaginal and not vulval? If it's vulval, get your midwife just to check your not peeing protein. It's probably not that, but worth a check if that's where your symptoms are.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 07/05/2014 20:59

It's only the oral tablet you can't have during pregnancy.

cookielove · 07/05/2014 21:28

I'm 20 weeks. There is no itching inside!

in fact i just found out what i thought was thrush is gardnerella (BV), that needs antibiotics. So i would push for a swab to check if you are not responding to cream at all.

freezingdrizzle · 07/05/2014 21:32

i am 24 weeks and i have had vulval irritation - identical to thrush

cookielove · 08/05/2014 19:32

Been back to the dr's got a prescription and also made them take a swab to make sure.

The Dr should be happy to prescribe the pessary but they 'll tell u not to use the applicator ....just put it up with your finger instead.

cookielove · 09/05/2014 19:47

Argh, the saga continues! So the pessary didn't completely dissolve and so I took it out at lunch today, I've got a 7 day course so will pop another one in tonight. They also my make me feel funny, uncomfortable and tight! :(

HEY :)

I am having pretty much constant thrush, been using the cream on and off since the start (now 28 weeks preggers) - the cream works then a week or so later the thrush is back. Getting so upset about it - worrying the cream effects the baby even though the doc said it was fine.

I haven't tried the pessary (was scared) so I think for me that might be the way forward next xx

I am a little stressed over it too

:(

cookielove · 13/05/2014 18:40

The pessary worked in the end, feel back to normal now :) I think I put the first one in wonky and that's why it was uncomfortable.

Definitely go to the dr and get it prescribed!

I've been told I've got thrush just through a conversation with my midwife no checks or anything. What was everyone's symptoms? I've had greeny yellow discharge and a sore/stinging patch of skin that's only occasionally itchy. It doesn't feel like thrush but no one will see me.

cookielove · 17/05/2014 09:15

izzy I requested that the dr take a swab, but she prescribed the pessary anyway. Which cleared it up really quickly and all my discomfort has gone. Can you book a dr appointment?
