I will being going on maternity leave at the end of June. I have a lot of stuff to prepare for then, as well as doing the day to day stuff. But I have lost all motivation. I can do things in fits and starts, but not very sustainably. I KNOW I'm not working effectively but I just can't seem to make myself do it.

For eg today I said to myself I'd have my fruit and yoghurt, then I would work until a particular time, then have a tea. But I haven't. I've just continued to faff about doing nothing much.

I really want to get organised and sorted. Does anyone have any tips?

Thanks

List were/are the only way forward imo, I lost all motivation in my last month of work, it was hot and I was tired and huge. In the end I did a list and would work solidly for say and hour and a half, stopped for a walk around/fruit and yogurt break for five minuets and then got back to it.

I also took everything that I needed for the next few hours work so that I had absolutely no need to roam the office looking for things and get caught up in conversations.

I was also really ruthless and delegated anything that didn't need to be done my me personally. Anything that really wasn't essential didn't get done. I also saved some (genuinely) nice jobs for my stand in (I'd spoken to her quite a bit and knew which areas she was good at/interested in). After being ruthless the list shrank quite a bit, I still found the last month really tough. The last day was a rest day, I got everything finished the day before so I could swan about tie up any last bits.

I'm the same but don't even have the excuse if maternity leave being soon! I just don't have the motivation/energy and want to be doing things for my baby... I'm a teacher and am finding lifting myself up again after the Easter holidays (lots of baby time) particularly tough. Dreading what it will be like after half term when I'll still have 7 weeks to go!

So. No advice at all. Just - me too : )

At least it's not just me!

I'm going to try and devote some time today to lists and organising emails. I used to do lists all the time, but I have a massive one from ages ago (first trimester when feeling awful) that never got finished so it's a bit daunting! I've managed to offload two tasks already so that's a help.
