Ok had consultant a few weeks ago and she told me although I had high bp etc she said id get to term, but midwife says I won't get past 35! She made me feel like I had dun everything wrong and I was stupid to get pregnant in the first place she ordered renal scans etc but still haven't had one I'm dreading her picking on me again today and want to cry, my midwife said lower lft results that keep dropping are a concern so I panic but others say its fine

frankie is there anyone you could take with you for your appointment today? Could you ask your MW to explain to you why she thinks you will only get to 35 weeks? Could you also ask her to check when you will be getting the renal scan? Smile. Ask her too if there are any Antenatal relaxation classes or yoga classes available in your area. Your local NCT might also offer these courses. These ones will be paid for but concessions are available and you can pay in instalments Smile

Are you looking after yourself too? My DSIL had high blood pressure during her 2 pgs and it didn't look like much fun.

Has the MW explained the symptoms of Pre-eclampsia and to get help straightaway if you develop any?

I'd phone the NCT helpline, you can talk all of this through with a qualified antenatal teacher, preferably before your appointment Smile

Good luck Thanks

Is the consultant a specialist in high BP pregnancies?

I would, as Jilted suggests, take someone and ask plenty of questions. If the consultant is a specialist, I wonder if she is being over cautious.

As for this "She made me feel like I had dun everything wrong and I was stupid to get pregnant in the first place" if you are concerned every unit has a supervisor of midwives, through whom you can get a 2nd opinion and (more importantly) deal with unpleasant treatment.

Agree sqizita. Do make sure you are under the right consultant and also do complain if you feel that your MW hasn't dealt with you appropriately. My MW in my last pg was so shocking the Consultant complained to the head of midwifery herself.

Don't forget to report back and let us know how you get on today Smile

Hiya guys, consultant was yet another one and told me everything was fine she took me off the midwife I am on as me and her don't see eye to eye, and been given the head midwife who specialises in high risk pregnancys no one can really tell me I do have headachesfeel rotten and have floaters but bp etc is normal on 600mg of labetalol, I'm really none the wiser to when my dc2 will artive or what to aim for, id hardly put on any weight and my bump is two weeks behind my actual dates but she's not worried, I'm not eating much as my appitite isn't what it was. So consultant told me be positive otherwise it won't turn out well! She did make me cry but was feeling pretty hormonal today anyway I'm not entirely sure why I did, so off to see midwife tomorrow for more contradiction! She also told me as I'm going for vbac I can only have on pessary then straight to c section is this true neone had experience?

Really sorry, have no idea on high bp or vbac. My problem low bp.

Hopefully someone will be along soon who will know more, or can point you in the right direction Smile. There is an article here on vbac and it seems to have some useful further reading at the end.

Glad you have a different mw and hope it goes well tomorrow. Did you manage to ask about relaxation classes?

Action on pre eclampsia seem to have a helpline. Do you think it might be worth talking to them? Smile
