calling in sick?

I'm 7ish weeks. So far have been feeling very unwell in the evenings but passable the rest of the day.

Until this morning, where it's been retch-ville central. Dizzy and shakey too.

I rang head to say I'd be late (she knows) but now I'm debating whether to go back to bed and ring her and say I'm taking today off.

no doubt...a day of rest would be much better for me regardless, but I'm already feeling better than I was (although still not great) and will probably feel better again in a bit.

Also worried that turning up late will cause people to get suspicious.

But then I'm also thinking I should man up and get on with it as this could be the state of play every morning from now on...

what to do?

I rang in sick at your stage one morning and ended up off for 13weeks with hyperemesis. :(

Extreme case I know but onky you know if you're fit to do a days work, sometimes a day in bed can work wonders!
You have my sympathy it's a horrible feeling and I hate taking time off work!

Try and push on, I ended up with hyperemesis in my last pregnancy, and the fact that I pushed on as much as my body could in the first few months meant that when I was 30+ weeks, and still just as ill, but couldn't afford to take maternity leave until 39+6 my bosses took sympathy and started letting me do half days/ shorter weeks whilst still paying me full time..
I'm not saying your employer will be anywhere near as accommodating, but I think unless your too ill to physically drive/ get to work then you should go..
