Very desperate to get my baby out! Tried the fresh pineapple, hot curry, sex(well once), raspberry leaf tea... birthing ball...

Any more suggestions?!

reflexology. and if it doesn't work its very relaxing and enjoyable.

Get your midwife to do a sweep, that brings labour on for some women. Will read any other ideas here too though as I'd love to go a bit earlier than my due date!

foundintranslation · 27/08/2006 16:10

my labour started at 37+5 immediately after putting together an Ikea changing unit with dh...
(it did go on for another 2 days though)

chocybickie · 27/08/2006 16:11

sit back and relax you could have a month left yet.

im in the same boat! i have 10 days and am totally sick of it!
what an awful mummy i am!

ive tried long walks but they just make me hurt.

pupuce · 27/08/2006 16:32

Most babies are born after 40 weeks....
If there is a medical reason why you can't be pregnant anymore or you are in medical opinion... in too much discomfort (like with severe SPD) they might agree to induce you.... but that also brings its own problems !
Parenthood is about patience and I often think Pregnancy is the first test of that

best to wait it out and enjoy yourself! i i was told my ds would come early but he came 5 days late!!
tried everything to get him out early but he wouldnt budge!!!
with dd, contractions started straight after sex!!

Scoobydooooo · 27/08/2006 16:43

I was very depsperate with dd because i was feeling very uncomfortable & it's just a waiting game as they say.

I actual drank Lucuzade because someone on mumsnet said it & i had tried everything else, that evening i went into labour it was on my due date though but i was soooooo glad not to be 10 days over like i was with ds.

I would say enjoy your time at the moment as your going to be knackered once baby arrives

sleepfinder · 27/08/2006 18:47

I am feeling impatient too - with 2.5 wks to go. BUT, I was told by a very good obs that these final weeks, if you can hold on - all the better for the baby. The brain is still developing, they are putting on crucial extra weight which will keep them well and growing properly when they come out etc...I know its a bore and hugely uncomfortable, but I guess its just something we all have to put up with at this stage...

poppiesmum · 27/08/2006 20:00

Sleepfinder you're right - I was told babies put on half a pound a week at the end, and it's a crucial time for them. My dd was born at 41 weeks and the difference between her and babies born just 1 wek early was amazing - she seemed so much more strong and alert - so don't wish your time away! Saying that, I was desperate to get on with it from anout 38 weeks, and tried all the usual ideas - sex, curry, and I;ve never eaten so much pineapple!!!

I had a sweep at 40 weeks which did nothing, and another one at 41 weeks and contractions started 5 hours later! All that taugt me is that babies will come when they're ready, and not before!!

Belive it or not, when you've had your baby there will be times when you miss being pg and feeling that baby jump about inside you - take it easy, make the most of it and enjoy the rest (while you can!!) Good luck

I wouldn't be trying to bring on labour yet if I was you. But when it is time, nipple twisting works. Brought DS2s labour on in hours but it has to be the right time. He was due that day.

1Baby1Bump · 27/08/2006 22:03

im getting impatient as ds came a week early.
im glad he didnt stay in another week and gain anymore weight tho!!

Rookiemum · 28/08/2006 13:03

DS was 10 days and I tried everything. Pineapple, curries, walking, sex, nipple tweaking - although you are meant to do it 3 hours a day for it to work and it still didn't. Had two sweeps and the second one brought on labour, but I was +10 days at that point. I think they come out when good & ready and not before.
