Diastasis recti / umbilical hernia

Do any of you know about this? In adults I mean??

I'm 22 weeks now and at 16 weeks I went to gp as I had horrendous belly pain vertically but sort of in the middle of my belly button up and down.

I was told it was just abdominal muscles seperating and that they probably hadn't gone back after having my 5 year old. Also told that it was probably nothing to worry about but also briefly mentioned diastasis recti and umbilical hernia. After reading this info it didn't seem like I had this from my symptoms

Am now 22 weeks and last few weeks the pain has come back. I have a small cherry tomato sizes lump half in my belly button and half on the left hand side. When I lift things or cough or sneeze this protrudes more then goes back in, but can always be felt when I'm standing. Can't feel in when I'm laying down but it hurts to turn over in bed.

I'm now worried. I'm off to see GP about it in next few days. But wondered if any of you ladies here have experience of it.

Was told by a medic friend that in this trust they do elective c sections when a umbilical hernia is there as they can repair it at same time. This is something I wish to avoid as I want my vbac this time!!

Thanks for reading x

I had a hernia after my second pregnancy, probably during too but I never noticed. Nobody mentioned a section, I did have one but for different reasons. About a year later I had it repaired. Day case, three weeks off work. No bother really.
I hope yours is ok.
