Awful belching?

I'm 38/39 wks pregnant and the heart burn subsided with the baby "lightning" and moving south.

But now, every night, no matter how lightly I eat (or what I eat) I get horrible, uncomfortable belching - it starts as trapped and then is just intermittent. Sometimes also accompanied by the other end!(not uncontrollable)...sorry...

I don't know what I can do / take to prevent or stop this. Sometimes it wakes me in the middle of the night, abruptly, as if I'm going to be sick.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Have you found any good ways to deal with it - please let me know if you have, its becoming unbearable (for my DH also!) and I can't face another 2-3 wks of it....

I have the same problem, find peppermint tea, natural sparkling mineral water & rennies deflatine help a lot. I have a bit of this problem when I'm not pg, but it's more random now. Normally fruit juice, chocolate/sugary stuff and wheat set me off. I keep a bottle of sparkling water (I buy the packs of small bottles) by my bedside if I wake up feeling awful. The indigestion is bothering me far more at the moment, but then I'm only 24 weeks. A tip I read for indigestion was to drink loads during the day but nothing in the few hours before you go to bed - this might also work for the belching?? Good luck!

thanks both for your tips. I drink a lot of peppermint tea during the day / evening and water during the day, most days.

I tried something out yesterday and I think its to do with "quantity" of food. I had a good sized lunch around 1pm but a very light meal in the evening - a couple of small pieces of brown bread with butter, that was it. I wasn't left feeling hungry and I didn't start belching.

I think I may have cracked it (for now!)

thanks again.
