What does this mean? Registrar just shrugged and said it was because of my morning sickness. I asked if I could have some anti-emetics but apparently I'm not dehydrated enough Hmm. I'm 30+5

In my first pregnancy I had ketones when I hadn't eaten all morning before going to a midwife appointment.
Ketones are produced when your body breaks down body fat for energy because you are not getting enough energy from your food- great if you are dieting but not so good if it's during pregnancy and because you can't keep anything down.

As above. ++ isn't too bad though - where I'm booked, they don't worry until you're the equivalent of ++++ (I say 'equivalent' because if they're concerned enough, they can put the sample into a machine that gives them an exact reading; the ++ just comes from a dipstick test which isn't always that accurate).

Also, have you had anti-emetics before? I don't mean to sound rude of patronising, but obviously they like to avoid prescribing anything in pregnancy anyway, but also anti-emetics can make some people worse. The ones I was given early on made me throw up four times in a row on a very empty stomach and then pass out, and I just couldn't stay awake/alert/functional on them.

Thanks. I've never had anti-emetics in pregnancy before although I've had them at other times. I think I just wanted a bit more sympathy really and an acknowledgement of my suffering. Now I've reached the stage when everything aches and I'm still puking several times a day so I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Sadly, the HCPs see this all the time and it often isn't a particularly big deal to them. I found my DP was much more sympathetic! Is yours much good at that?
