Stop digging?

Put a plaster over it and try and distract yourself when you get the urge.

I have to do this with my nails cause when I'm stressed cause I bite my nails.

Self discipline ... so much easier said than done with bad habits

The bellybutton will become shallower anyway so you might find it easier to dig Grin. It might even pop out near the end.

aha, I only started doing it a while after I found out I was pg, such a bad habbit was just worried if it could harm baby x

I don't think picking your belly button can hurt the baby? There's a layer of muscle and fat in between.

But it could cause scratches and infections perhaps, so try not to.

Oooh a belly button thread. I have the wields deepest belly button. I have to clean it regularly with cotton buds and usually use a bit of savlon to prevent infection. Sometimes things accumulate in there (dead skin/fluff?) and I dig with my finger to get it out. This can make it sore so I whack some savlon in. I don't think any of this would harm baby any more than, say scratching a scab on your tummy etc.

However now I'm 38 weeks pregnant my belly button is almost popped out and I'm SO EXCITED, I can see all the way in til the end! Whoop there's a nasty little scab right in the middle. It's not seen daylight in 35 years! So I'm caring for it properly definitely not picking, no I think you'll be fine
