Reassurance scan

Hi
I've rang my local early pregnancy clinic today and booked in for my reassurance scan for a week tomorrow (7th may), when I'll be 8 weeks. It is a free trans vaginal scan.
However, my fiancé won't be able to get time off work so has suggested we go private.
I have rang and booked a private appointment for thurs (I'll be 7 weeks 1 day). However, after I've booked it, I have realised that it is a trans abdominal scan.
I have heard that the vaginal scan is more effective, as it's closer to the baby. So now I'm wondering if there's any point in going to the private scan.
Just wondering if anyone has any advice on the situation. I obviously want my fiancé to be there (when I miscarried, he was in work and I had to break the news over the phone. I really don't want to potentially have to do that again). However, I don't want to go the private scan, to be told they cannot see a heartbeat and we will have to wait a week in worry, as it is a stressful time for us anyway.
Thanks :)

Baby's heart is beating by now, you shouldn't have any problem seeing that on the scan.

I would go and enjoy it with your DF.

Congratulations and I'm sure everything will be fineThanks

You probably will be able to see a hb with either scan at 7 weeks. However if there is an issue then you'll have an anxious wait while you go back to the EPU.

If you can book the private scan for a day or two before the EPU scan, do that. If all good, cancel the EPU scan. They'll have someone who"ll be glad of aa cancellation appt

I had a reassurance scan at 7+2 and they could see the heartbeat no problem. You should be fine :)

Thanks for all the advice ladies :) I guess they wouldn't use the trans adbominal probe for the scan if it wasn't effective enough. Think I just saw it, remembered what the sonographer said last time, and panicked.
I'm feeling terrible today! I've had morning sickness (well nausea) that lasts most of the day for the past week, but today has gone up a level! But I know its a good sign and it'll all be worth it (hopefully!) Just wanted a moan lol.
Thanks again :)
I'll post tomorrow with the news ...
