Holiday at 35 weeks - crazy idea?

I'm thinking of booking one last pre baby holiday when I'll be 35 weeks, just holiday cottage within two hours drive from home. Am I crazy for thinking this might be a good idea?

As long as you take your notes and know where the nearest maternity unit is sounds fine to me Smile

Go for it! You might be tired nearer the time so don't plan loads of activities. Also prepare yourself for the possibility of giving birth in a different hospital and make sure you know the route to it. It's unlikely but you never know!

If you feel happy at the thought of a mini holiday then I really can't see the harm in it :)

It really depends.....

How your pregnancy has progressed - has it been plain sailing ... No high risk factors for the birth?

When you say 2 hours away is that by car, train etc? How easy is the journey or is there a good option if you go into labour early?

Personally I would go.... But others might say not... With my first, I went away for a long weekend about 6 hours from home about 5 - 6 weeks before my due date and I was travelling for work upto about 4 days before DS was born (he was 17 days early so 3 weeks before due date)....

I'm going to newcastle at 37wks for 4 days from London. Take your notes and make sure you know the contact numbers for a local maternity unit

Will be travelling by car, so could take notes and hospital bag just in case. I'm only 27 weeks so far, and pregnancy has been fine- no major issues. I have been having repeat scans as screened high risk of developing pre eclampsia at 20 weeks, tho baby looked fine at 24 weeks, and blood pressure fine too.

I'm doing this! Going away this Friday for 3 nights, I'll be 34 weeks on Sunday. We've got a cottage booked, it's just over 2 hours drive away from home. I told my midwife about it a few weeks ago and she was all for it, just said to take my notes, I've also checked the locations of the nearest hospitals just in case!
